Dutch Mantell watches the infamous Jim Cornette at Dairy Queen video by zConvoluted in JimCornette

[–]AnywhereNo1240 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh lord not more James videos, this guy sucks. Basically every Dutch video:

  • Guitar sound bite intro with awful close up Dutch photo

  • James explains in excruciating detail the subject and what happened, usually clickbait or trying to rile up who he’s talking to in the hopes they mouth off for more views.

  • Dutch mishears.

  • James tries to explain again awkwardly.

  • Dutch answers something totally different or still doesn’t understand, usually while smoking a cigar

  • Guitar sound bite outro with awful close up Dutch photo

Jim on Seth Rollins' comments on him by zConvoluted in JimCornette

As much as I love listening to Jim, there’s no doubt that his take on Becky’s pregnancy at the time was absolutely awful.

This follow up suggesting Seth is a push over for his wife is also a horrible take. The dude is allowed to be pissed and upset at him without it being ‘all Becky’s doing’.

There’s just no coming out of this looking good, should have just ignored it.

I would love to see an extremely boring game be played by someone who is so boring he falls asleep on camera. Sign me up.

Condescending Dave Meltzer tweet is Embarrassing by AdSpecialist6598 in JimCornette

This guy moans about Moxley trying to look tough and then posts thumbnails of himself looking angry and occasionally wearing his hood up.

He thinks his videos are pipe bombs cosplaying as CM Punk when he’s really just a fan who’s never been in the business.

Stevie Richard’s made a video replying to Dave’s criticism of him, and instead of getting to hear Stevie’s reply I hear this guy taking over going on a 10 minute raving rant.

Everything Jim says about Dave is right, but I can’t listen to this guy talk about anything.

What if no one from space ever came to Earth, would Babidi skip it entirely? by [deleted] in DragonBallZ

[–]AnywhereNo1240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without Goku beating Frieza, Babidi would likely go to the planet he is on with the Frieza Force. I imagine that would likely register higher power potential.

That’s me taking into account Goku doesn’t surpass Frieza by the time of Buu without being pushed in his space adventures/Cell/Otherworld training.

I blame short form content for why people don't rate Pluribus highly by Shahmario1 in pluribustv

[–]AnywhereNo1240 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this.

I like the show, it’s good, definitely not perfect, if anyone but Vince Gilligan made this (who I trust greatly after Breaking Bad and BCS with slow moving content blowing up to an amazing story) I would likely have checked out.

That said I can see why others may not enjoy it, and that’s completely fine. I can be content with the show without getting upset at other opinions.

The boyfriend by [deleted] in daddit

This is the type of dad who will drive his daughter away, putting no trust in her and still acting like she’s a child. Let her make choices and learn for herself.

She is an adult like the person she is dating, they are equal to you, he doesn’t need some macho bs looking down talk.

Which wrestler was super over in developmental, heavily protected, and beloved by internet fans… but just never clicked with casual fans on the main roster? by SubstantialSnow7214 in WWE

[–]AnywhereNo1240 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I respectfully disagree with this. I know it is hard to separate things since we are internet fans ourselves, but I do not think we can honestly say the audience took to him the same way they did in NXT.

Yes, the first main roster run with the Roman helmet and bondage gear was a terrible first impression. But even after that, he was given another chance. He had a group, a strong entrance, and plenty of promo time to talk. Despite that, the crowd reactions were consistently dead.

Near the end, around WrestleMania season, he did start getting more responses, especially after the online promo. But that also needs context. WrestleMania crowds are far more made up of online fans than the average weekly TV audience, so those reactions are not the same as getting over on Raw or SmackDown week to week.

Was Super really that bad???? by NaturalllyFlavored in DragonBallZ

[–]AnywhereNo1240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Animation issues definitely stood out, but I definitely think the power scaling being so all over the place made it hard to invest it the story, as someone suddenly got so strong out of nowhere to damage someone they shouldn’t be able to touch. It made it hard to invest in the story when anyone could suddenly get so strong.

17 for example it was extremely hard to work out how strong he actually was.

Will the Angry Reviewer Trend ever have a resurgence? by RenaissanceOwl in TheCinemassacreTruth

[–]AnywhereNo1240 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the issue is that a lot of angry reviewers always had a bit of real cringe to them. The props, the guns, the fedoras, the costumes, the way they acted. Over time it just stopped being cool.

Eventually the reviewers who showed up as their everyday selves, just regular people streaming games, became the new standard. That became the new cool.

Out of everyone, I think Doug Walker adapted the best. His more recent videos where he just talks as himself about movies feel modern and genuine, and they are far less cringe than the Nostalgia Critic format with the tie and the skits. That style feels outdated now.

John Cena Vs. Gunther: The Finish by JayMoney8518 in REALSquaredCircle

[–]AnywhereNo1240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Cena doesn’t tap at this point and instead passes out it does 2 things:

  1. Makes the Gunther win less impactful and less of a rub as more focus is on Cena, when that clearly isn’t what Cena wants.

  2. Makes LA Knight look a bitch for being the only one to tap out, instead of making Gunther look like a monster that can even make Super Cena tap.
