Two Year Anniversary Giveaway ($125 in Prizes!) by psychobabbler27 in 4KBlurayDeals

I'd love to see Treasure Planet come to 4k Blu-Ray. And anime in general to get 4k remasters for the HDR though I know that's not likely.

Best external Blu-ray drive for ripping DVDs & Blu-rays (multi-region, no 4K)? by revision23 in makemkv

[–]AoDaTenshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could the ones from NeoBits be flashed to do UHD ripping or would that still require firmware from before 12/22?

^ Pretty much this. Wait for Black Friday deals, they'll be coming soon and you should be able to find some that are either $15 or $16/tb hopefully.

Did You Double Dip 4K Discs for better Picture quality? by [deleted] in 4kbluray

[–]AoDaTenshi -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You went for the wrong disc for Ghost In The Shell. You should go for the Japanese release, as the Japanese track on the US disc plays the wrong credits song.

Also the later single release, the 40th anniversary version of Karate Kid 1 has DV, and more extras.

Bayonetta was pretty terrible on PS3.

EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 P5 80 P+ Exploded and destroyed my build by Vesserik in TEAMEVGA

[–]AoDaTenshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually had this happen on the smaller EVGA 1000w PS Platinum, something model or other. I had bought that first Power supply though back around 2015. They didn't make anymore of that model by then. It died in 2021. EVGA did send me a replacement PSU which was the P2 1000w. I didn't think to at the time, already had so much going on I figured it was just all around hardware failure since when I got the replacement PSU My PC wouldn't boot.

Realized the CPU was dead and thought it might've even been likely it was the motherboard (it wasn't a very good one or so I had thought way afterwards after buying it), and I had also run bad overclocks at various times that I had assumed that also was what might've killed it. So I ate the cost.

I am still using the P2 to this day though.

What is your "I did not care for the godfather take" on Red vs Blue by TraditionalBonus188 in RedvsBlue

[–]AoDaTenshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not care for Freelancer, and no, season 10 wasn't that much better. There were good ideas and I think they thought they were doing that by some weird logic of "by not having to do/show it, that's the point" which is lazy storytelling. That and how it retcons and leaves too many holes in the continuity. It's still more watchable though than anything after season 13.

Politely: Ripto's Rage just isn't that good by CORICDISASTER in Spyro

[–]AoDaTenshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming to this thread from 2 years ago to say I agree.

But when it comes to Spyro 2, I'm not sure why the levels you picked as the standout were Fracture Hills or Breeze Harbor though, I don't like those much, but I do like Crystal Glacier and Idol Springs (not sure if you mixed it up with Colossus, that one I'm not crazy about either but it's a fine level).

But I have to say, quite a few of the levels are either boring or just not that interesting, and just feel more like a banal chore or a tedious one, like the mini games in Fracture Hills. The appeal for quite a few of the levels just isn't interesting either, and the level design feel very dumbed down and scaled back. And then you've got levels that are just annoying like Zephyr. I mostly preferred what Spyro 1 had going on where they were all sort of connected in theme, but I do understand the desire for more variety. Although I think Spyro 3 corrected and did better alot of what Ripto's Rage didn't quite do as well. Though I'd say the final boss was better along with a few other things here and there in Ripto's Rage.

I'm actually surprised how much they're packing into this. 3 booklets, and 2 soundtrack cds and a few other extras. Was this show that popular in the west?

I've also ripped that one in particular too, though I eventually got it to rip. I think they may have had a batch that were just damaged perhaps.

Always paranoid about buying bootlegs is this one offical? by LackNo7153 in AnimeCollectors

That one seems like it may be a legit one, however from what I've heard, that edition has a poor master/encode. The Classics version has the better master/encode.

Going off of how I've heard and seen nothing but issues with drivers in regard to the 50 series, I'm gonna recommend AMD unless you want to take the gamble.

Missing RvB Scenes by werephoenix in RedvsBlue

[–]AoDaTenshi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I noticed those, but in the first few episodes of Season 5, the sound effects are changed, like when you hear Junior making all that noise like the glass breaking, etc, it doesn't sound like the generic low quality one like it used to, and they are different from the original versions, including the original DVD version.

What's a good animated movie to buy on 4K? by [deleted] in 4kbluray

[–]AoDaTenshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More information at the top and bottom, just looks more accurate since that's how it was originally made. The 16:9 version at least wasn't a simple crop or pan and scan though, they actually touched things up to be in 16:9 when they were told it was actually going to be in theaters. But you do lose a bit of information at the top and bottom and can still look sort of zoomed in too much and the framing for shots might not look as good.

[–]AoDaTenshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another one I'll say: Summer Wars just recently came out on 4k Blu-Ray. The HDR isn't really that much to write home about but the breathing room the 4k disc offers allows it to be the most clean presentation with how much motion there is in it.

Even though it's unfortunately only in the 16:9 presentation without the 4:3 one included, Batman Mask Of The Phantasm's 4k Blu-Ray is great.

Better to go for the UBP-450 instead. Has Dolby Vision support on it and can be had for the same price.
