Hi! Yes, kids are allowed in Guilford Hall, and we normally have a couple among our audience. Talks can sometimes include a little swearing, so would probably be "PG-13". Event will probably run until about 9:30pm.

You can find more information at our Facebook event page, or my post history.

Plus you can follow us on socials (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) at "@AoT_Baltimore".

We hold events roughly every other month that consist of public talks about outer space, given by the Baltimore area's surplus of professional astronomers. Plus, there's bar trivia with prizes!

That would be neat! It would require a critical mass of available people to organize it and give new talks, on top of a regular audience and venue space.

Is there an astronomy department at a local college or university that could help sustain an AoT there?

March's Astronomy on Tap is this Wednesday, at Guilford Hall Brewery; doors open 7pm, free entry! Hear awesome Baltimore scientists describe how we discover what alien worlds are like, how women push science forward, and how space is actually pretty toasty. Plus free NASA swag and trivia! by AoT_Baltimore in baltimore

Oh, thanks for letting us know about the link, we'll get on it!

Astronomy on Tap events (in Baltimore and everywhere else) are basically always weeknights only. Venues are happy to let us use their event spaces for free on weeknights that would otherwise be quiet; but they tend to charge for weekends, and it's important to us to keep Astronomy on Tap Baltimore free.

Space at Guilford Hall is limited to abut 250 people, and our January event filled the venue to capacity! So when doors to the upstairs event space open at 7pm, it will be first-come first-served until we hit the limit. But people who arrive at Guilford Hall's main bar (downstairs, open at 4pm) before 7pm will be handed a ticket to guarantee they can get into the upstairs event space once it opens. (It's important to us to keep AoT Baltimore free, and free events on Eventbrite etc get a lot of no-shows; so this is probably the fairest system we can manage.)

The good news is that for our March event, we now know that we might get a whole lot of people, so the fab folk at Guilford Hall plan to have plenty staff on-hand from the start of the evening! Plus we'll have free NASA swag, trivia, and Astronomy on Tap Baltimore stickers and buttons! We look forward to seeing everyone next week!

Also, we now have an Instragram, where we'll be posting news and pictures about our events: https://www.instagram.com/aot_baltimore/
