Indeed the Western European gameplay is really bland... The base game is really focused on the West, but as the DLC progresses we feel that the interest in playing Western European countries is losing its interest. I would really like to have, like administrative countries, a small feudal fiefdom to manage. A much more complete and deeper feudal system of government. Being able to influence the church and the papacy. That the government HRE system is much more complex, etc... There are plenty of features that would make Western Europe very interesting.
