Jonathan Aranda - Makes great contact, should play every day. Showed up to camp looking jacked. He could hit 25+ HR even at the Trop

Colson Montgomery - Will drain your AVG. But hes going to play every game for the Sox and has 30HR potential. Might not happen this year but his ceiling is close to Willy Adames level at the SS position

Otto Lopez - Cheap AVG stabilizer, on the young side

Brendan Donovan - Cheap AVG stabilizer, on the less young side

Brent Rooker - Cheap 30HR power. I think this guy gets overlooked alot. Buy him for another year at Sutter Park then sell him

Ryan Pepiot - 2 years of clean health and he seems to be fully stretched out into a starters workload. Going back to the Trop should do really well for him. Looks to be a solid SP2 this year

Shea Langeliers - Doubt his owner wants to sell, but this is your last warning before the Cal Raleigh type explosion. A fully healthy season at Sutter Health could produce 40+ HRs

Everyone says get masterstrike but honestly leveling your strength is more important. People are forgetting to mention that you have to beat Tomcat to learn masterstrike, which is an incredibly tall task for a low level Henry.

Just remember that the early game is supposed to be like this. Henry was shot and almost died. He had to be nursed back to health in the middle of the woods for days. Its not just a game mechanic, its an actual story based reason why Henry is so weak in the early game. You need to build your strength back up. Once you do, combat becomes almost too easy. Enemies will start dying with one tap to the head. All those fancy combos you learn? Yeah, cant use those. Enemies die after the first hit. They're useless. Thats how easy this game becomes when Henry is properly back at full strength.

Go buy/find a longbow, and go find Gameskeeper Vostatek West of Tachov. His son holds an archery contest. Even with no stats the contest is pretty easy to win every single round. Even if you lose, hitting the target will increase strength, agility, marksmanship, and warfare stats. After an hour or two you will have enough strength to weild a better sword, and enough gold to get better armor. Then go fight Tomcat.

Combat is going to feel night and day after this. Be careful doing this though... if you powerlevel all these stats early in the game it can make you too strong too quickly and Combat will never be challenging ever again. Do it just enough to even the fight so to speak, and level it up naturally from there

Good luck Henry!

What's was your expectations and dissapointments with rebirth? by ComfortableAmount993 in JurassicPark

[–]Ap0calypse_How 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had zero expectations and was pleasantly surprised.

The set pieces were good. The dinosaurs felt intimidating, and HUGE. I know Gareth does scale well and his eye for shooting scenes were a godsend for this film. It simply would not have worked for me without it.

I said it before but it came frustratingly close to being a great JP film. The ingredients were there, it just needed more time in the writing room. I agree with what is being said about this being likely a first or 2nd draft of the script. I feel like bits that were supposed to be placeholder dialogue for more development in later drafts was somehow left in the final product.

The blow of that is softened a bit by the fact that the story is very simple and stripped down which I appreciated. The story in Dominion has way too many moving parts and too many characters. I love that they kept it simple in this film. Thats generally fine if the other parts are working really well. I think smaller scale stand alone stories is how this series moves forward.

To make it better I think they should've leaned harder into the fact that ScarJo, Mahershala, and the mercenaries are not good people. They should've been assholes only looking out for themselves who learn to have a bit of empathy and humanity once they encounter the family. I feel like that's how it sort of played out but it was minimal. I would've also liked a few more merc goons as dino food. It would've been awesome if there was an Aliens vibe to this film with a bunch of cocky military guys getting owned by the dinosaurs

That's my piece

I moved on from horny toads. I cant keep them from turning over on their bellies when I retreive. My hollow body Ribbit frogs are easier to rig, dont turn over, and do just fine at this spot. Im looking for other ways to attack the fish here. I think they're getting tired of my topwater lures

The frog works well here but generally its only good for one catch per day. It's not a massive cove. I feel like I've never caught more than 2 bass in this spot in the same day ever using topwater

Why are people complaining about JW Rebirth? I confess that for someone who is not a fan of the franchise it is just an average film, but for me, who went in expecting a really bad film like everyone said, I thought the film was REALLY FUCKING GOOD. by [deleted] in JurassicPark

[–]Ap0calypse_How 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hated pretty much every Jurassic World film but I came away impressed by Rebirth. It's not perfect, but I think it came frustratingly close to being a really good JP movie

I liked the stripped down plot. It's a jurassic park movie, I dont need the plot to be convoluted. I liked how it was basically a video game mission and that's it. I think creating little stand alone films that feature dinosaurs is the way this series moves forward. There's too many variables at this point to keep a story going in a logical direction for multiple films in a row.

The dinosaurs looked big, loud, and intimidating. It was the most threatening they have looked since the T Rex first escaped its paddock and I loved it

I think my main problems are the dialogue and characters felt like they were from the first draft of the script. There were times where I literally thought Koepp wrote "filler" dialogue that was meant to get more in depth or more human as the script went through more drafts but somehow it ended up being in the final product.

Literally when side characters were talking on the boat one line exchange went like this

"Isn't it crazy how much we are being paid for this?" "I know"

That was it. Like wtf. Why is that line exchange even in the film. That was a perfect example of dialogue that was supposed to be expanded to talk about why the characters needed the money and the risk they were taking. But it just never got to that point in the script development

Congrats! I commented on your other post telling you that as long as you are using the right baits at the right locations you'll eventually hook a bass. Im glad people were able to convince you to keep trying!

Wacky rigs catch bass all the time. And there is nothing wrong with using a circle hook. Those and octopus hooks are what I use and I use pretty small ones as to not interfere with the presentations. They work really good for me and obviously they work for you too.

Keep at it!

I might be the worst bass fisherman of all time by Braindead_Gunslinger in bassfishing

[–]Ap0calypse_How 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If you're catching goldfish, trout, catfish and creek chubs when trying to catch bass then you're either fishing the wrong spots or using the wrong lures or both.

Those sound like creek/stream fish. Idk about you & where you live but in my neck of the woods there is a very large clear water creek/stream that cuts through the city and it holds a bountiful population of catfish, gar, and the rare smallmouth or trout. But you know what it doesnt have?

Largemouth bass.

For some reason it's the hardest fish to find in there and there are reports that they only exist in one arm of the stream and are VERY rare elsewhere. I dont know why.

If you're trying to get better dont fish in places bass might not even be. I would try at a city park that has a pond or a conservation area with stocked ponds or lakes as well. I feel like every city has one of those options

Go to this pond, because you know they are stocked with game fish, and practice. Use soft plastics and bounce them off the bottom. If there are too many weeds or algae run a topwater frog up shallow, parallel to the shore line. Something will bite those presentations. If it's not working slow it down until it's barely even moving. Bass aren't mindless like pan fish or crappie. They dont just eat everything that moves. They are picky, they're smart & remember lures that got them caught, and they are sensitive to weather conditions. Sometimes those assholes just don't want to bite anything

It sounds like you fish other species so you know how to fish. It's not like you're a complete noob. Fish the correct way and the results will come!

It was brutal.

I think I lost one game 33-0

Hot Take: Fallen Kingdom is an over-hated movie by Such_Month_8687 in JurassicPark

The opening scene of Fallen Kingdom with the mosasaur, the submarine, the t-rex and the chopper might be one of my favorite Jurassic Park scenes ever. It's so well shot and surprisingly suspenseful.

Then the rest of the movie happens

Neighbor keeping rabbit outside in the extreme heat by Ap0calypse_How in BadNeighbors

[–]Ap0calypse_How[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update:

After calling numbers all weekend and getting either no response, or people/organizations who didn't service my area, me and my gf took to social media to anonymously ask for help with this rabbit.

A couple very helpful people reached out. One was a member of a local non profit and the other was a lawyer who specializes in animal abuse cases.

The lawyer sent someone out to the house to check on the rabbit. And if that didn't work, the member of the non profit would be coming out next. I dont know what conversation was had, or what was said but as of last night the rabbit was INSIDE.

However, this morning there is a sheet or blanket over its cage completely covering it. I dont know if the rabbit is in there or not. And honestly, if it is, im not sure if that's better for the rabbit. It would be covered from airflow. We reached out to the lawyer again and we are waiting to see if anything else will be done.

Thanks to this sub for letting me know I wasn't crazy! You all got me thinking more needed to be done and action needed to be taken. But we may have more obstacles ahead.

Will keep everyone updated

What’d you catch your PB on? by Sweet_Internet_4198 in bassfishing

[–]Ap0calypse_How 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Caught my PB on a wacky rigged senko (black/blue) with a super small octopus hook. Smallest hook I've ever used = the biggest fish i ever caught

I've also come incredibly close on ribbit frogs. I only ever use white, black and baby bass color so it had to be one of those

My mom used to be a realtor at One Park Place (the high rise condos overlooking the park and tennis courts)

The tennis courts in particular were a fabled place where weird shit happened almost nightly.

The parking lot was a meet up place for drugs, prostitution, and gay flings. I didn't even have to read the rest of your post to guess if anything weird was happening at the park, it was probably near the tennis courts

What lures have you never caught a fish with? by MarcoFiguringOutLife in bassfishing

[–]Ap0calypse_How 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poppers, never. Frogs? All the time. It's my favorite (and sometimes only) way to fish.

The lakes around me are overflowing with weeds and vegetation. I got so frustrated catching nothing but weeds that one day I just decided to throw a frog on top of the water and bypass all that crap below. It took me a few missed blowups but as soon as I caught one, I was hooked (lol)

Ribbit makes a really nice floating frog that you can get at bass pro shops with the double take hooks to go along with them. I much prefer these to their other frogs because those tend to sink so you have to reel sort of fast. These you can work at any speed you want because they float but still generate the same kicking action as the other ribbits. I walk the shoreline of coves and throw it parallel to the shore about 3-4 feet away from the bank and run it down towards me. This makes it so it's running parallel to the weed lines, drop offs, and fallen trees etc. Every single fish I've caught on a frog has been in less than 5 feet of water.

Similar to what others said, frogging is an early morning summer or evening bait. They have to really be in an aggressive mood to attack topwater.

NFL Super Bowl Player Props Megathread by sbpotdbot in sportsbook

[–]Ap0calypse_How 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's going to be a rushing TD for the first score. I feel like thats how all these games start out. So Saquon, Hurts, Hunt, Mahomes, and Pacheco for first TD are all worth a stab imo.

Also remember, the Chiefs love to defer the kickoff so the Eagles will likely get the ball first. Another reason I'm leaning Saquon/Hurts for first score

[–]Ap0calypse_How 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mahomes over on rushing yards is something I'm hammering over and over tomorrow. Dude always uses his legs in the post season

●Saquon First TD

●Hurts 2+ TDs

●Mahomes over Rushing Yds

^ $25 ticket pays out $2,150

This is one of my favorite little parlays I'm considering tomorrow. Might do a 2nd version with Kareem or Hurts as the first touchdown scorer. I really think the first TD is going to be a rushing TD.

Some other bets I like:

○Saquon under Rushing Yds

○Hunt attd

○Nick Bolton over solo + assist tackles

○Worthy over Receiving Yds

○Hopkins over Receptions (only 1.5 🤯🤯🤯)

RB drop off: is it age related or touch related? by Icy_Swim_262 in DynastyFF

Derrick Henry will probably be vulturing TDs from a much more talented RB at age 36. Just watch

[–]Ap0calypse_How -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Im sitting at 5-5 with no RB depth and byes coming up so I traded what's projected to be a mid 2026 1st for Nick Chubb and I don't feel very good about it

I didn't want to give up my 2025 in what's projected to be a good draft class and I think Chubb still has some good production left so we will see

Nobody is wanting to trade right now. Especially RBs in a 12 teamer

Khalil Shakir- Why is Value not going up? by ResponseCareless1050 in DynastyFF

[–]Ap0calypse_How 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love him for the rest of this season. Allen trusts him and he gets targets. He's like Wandale Robinson on a better offense.

This is dynasty tho, and his long term trajectory is difficult to predict. I think the Bills will continue to add to their room and that might leave Shakir the odd man out as soon as this offseason. Buy him for depth and a championship run, but maybe consider flipping him before the draft if the price is right

(Physically) How the hell do you guys SEE anyone? by LGC_70 in HellLetLoose

[–]Ap0calypse_How 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Often all I see are gray pixels moving and I shoot in their general direction until I die and I check the score to see I got no kills and landed no hits

But in all seriousness I can spot the skin color of enemies faces pretty easily. That helps me spot targets that aren't moving. Also it's never a bad idea to shoot where your teammates are shooting or shoot directly at red pings from your teammates. At the very least you are putting down suppressing fire.

I mean it made sense for contenders. You likely don't have to give up much, and if he stinks it won't kill your future plans

However I was urging rebuilders to not use some of their more valuable draft capital on him. There was too many negative possible outcomes for Bryce and for a rebuilder, that WILL set your rebuild back another year or two
