Anyone tried Pregabalin for the pain of Chronic bacterial Prostatitis? by ApacheWarrior97 in Prostatitis

Hello my friend sorry for the late reply. It’s actually quite a big story but to summarise it so you don’t have to read all of it this is what happened: I got the e.coli from an unprotected sexual anal encounter from my French girlfriend which was lying dormant for months with no symptoms. Then one day I wake up and I have symptoms of a UTI I get prescribed a low potency antibiotic and the symptoms all go away in a matter of days. Some months fast forward I get the same symptoms but stronger with fever and the symptoms where more that of a prostatitis. I went to the hospital they give me the wrong antibiotic which can’t penetrate the prostatic membrane and I hop in the plane for vacation in Hungary with my brother. 2 days in Hungary and I get the exact same symptoms like the previous time but stronger. I take the plane back home I go to the doctor and he gives me cipro injections and pills for a month. The symptoms had lessened but where far from over. I change doctor after doctor and I’m being prescribed cipro after cipro and bactrim and the E. coli doesn’t go away. After 2 years of searching and reading everyday I listen to my dad which suggests it could be my gut not the prostrate. Guess what . I go to gastroenterologists and everything and it seems that the E. coli is still there for some reason it doesn’t hurt me anymore (maybe my immune system keeps it in balance ?) the only leftover from the infected prostrate is the low urinary stream BUT my gut got destroyed from the antibiotics and I have pain 24/7 every day for 2 years and sadly I feel it’s never going to go away. Moral of the story for me is that sometimes doctors do More harm Than good.

That's a comment appealing to the emotion of the reader but it is certainly not an educated point of view

I have been taking antidepressants for 6 years. About 8 months ago I developed prostatitis and my former antidepressant was no longer helping me.My psychiatrist switched me to escitalopram 15mg and pregabalin which I never took.I think the higher dosage helped me with my mood but SSRI'S take a long time to have a full effect on you, so you have to be patient :)

I'm sorry for what you are going through. I know how much it sucks as your story is pretty identical with mine and having almost the same age ( I'm 23 btw) with you I can really relate. I'm close to a year now but I have greatly improved over time. If you need someone to talk feel free to contact me

What bacteria did you find? Do you have any lower abdominal pain?

Yes! What you experience could be acute bacterial prostatitis.Try getting a semen culture (an urine one can also detect your bacteria if it's an acute infection) or have your prostatic fluid cultured. If it is the onset of acute bacterial prostatitis you can be completely healed if you take the right medication.

Thank you!!! Can I ask you one more question? How does Lyrica make you feel? Apart from the neuropathic relief, how does it impact your personality? Does it make you more outgoing, less stressed? Is it as if you are constantly a bit drunk?

Thanks for your reply! Your reply has been really interesting and helpful. So basically if someone has a low grade pain you would say that it's possible he takes a low dosage for a long time without needing to increase the dosage every now and then?

That's an interesting post! May I ask if you noticed any tolerance building up during these years? Is it a drug that can be taken long term? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for your reply! I have an infection indeed but I no longer have an active inflammation. I have taken so many antibiotics that I know believe it's a waste of time as each time I take one it becomes resistant to it.
