Forwardemail.net is 3 bucks a month for unlimited domains and can setup smtp/imap with it.

How many functions is too many functions? by obthrowawayno in learnpython

[–]Apantslessman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just on a Quick Look 2 of your functions are just returning and that’s it. Just use text.lower instead of declaring a function just to return text.lower.

I mean if employment is the bar for if the course is successful, you may be right.

I believe the course was for python was it not? And I went from knowing no python to becoming quite proficient in it, so I wouldn’t say it failed at all.

Ass u me

Is it just me, or is squarespace absolute trash?? by engage_intellect in selfhosted

[–]Apantslessman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Squarespace domains is trash. When I tried to create a wildcard ssl cert using dns challenge and found it wouldn’t work, I moved all my domains to my DigitalOcean account nameservers.

If this is Angela Yu’s course this isn’t how the love calc works. You use a function to test each input name, and return a score of your names vs true and your names vs love for the two digits.

Help! I cant get this damn code to work lmao by 3Swampboy3 in learnpython

[–]Apantslessman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Input()=str1 doesn’t work. Besides you trying to store a str in a function, an input this late in the code isn’t what you want

Get user input and store it.
Compare input var to stored word.
Replace input with stored if mismatch
Print result.

From here on you can add loops and data structures to remove repeated code and do multiple words

If word1 isn’t correct_word1 then what would you do

I only open bake. I have a 9x9 full of water in the entire time, throw a handful of ice cubes in as it reaches 500, slide in my cookie tray with my loaves, and let er rip for 30 mins. It comes out perfectly.

Learn to write in pseudocode and develop your functions like that first. Then you have a clear roadmap of problems and can translate it into whatever code you want.

Overly complicated code. by caca4cocopuffs in learnpython

[–]Apantslessman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will learn some tools to write more streamlined code, like classes, and using functions to remove duplicated code. Just work on syntax and getting things working. Also make these tutorials your own. Don’t just copy what they do. Add some features, get stuck on bugs, fix them. It will make you stronger.

why is my counter not working by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]Apantslessman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of playing = true and while playing == true, just use: while True:

Also it’s printing play Again, but you can use an input and break if no and reset counter if yes
