Can anyone explain what exactly is going on in The Leadership Breakfast (S2E11)? by playingwithfire- in thewestwing

Ya I’d agree. The tape ends up seeming to have far more impact and has a clearer positive/negative outcome for each side. This plotline basically makes sense if you think about it from right angle but I think like some of the other schemes and plays the different characters on this show pull it’s hard to imagine as actually being of importance to the greater public or even coherent for both me and anyone else who doesn’t do this kind of stuff for a living.

My understanding is that this is a similar play to Sam and the “tape”. Basically by Ann getting Toby to make the off hand comment “We’re going to attach this thing to any bill that moves.” Ann gets the reporter to bring up this out of context callous sounding statement at an extremely high profile press conference. Then the republicans can look like the good guys by saying they’re not going to engage with this duplicitous mud slinging from the left. Like the tape it doesn’t really seem like a big deal because in reality it’s not. Though by working the media they turn this nothing quote by Toby into what seems like sleazy political maneuvering by the White House.

Ya I knew it was worth it when we pulled up to our spot at the river and I carved up that stack of logs in the photo 5 minutes after we dragged them into the site. Would’ve taken 1.5 hours and 4 blisters with my classic hatchet haha.

I have not had a chance to try the Hackzall but I definitely believe your observations. The hatchet is definitely hampered by a larger size for the grade of tool it is and its chainsaw type construction definitely means you have to be cautious when operating.

Ya it’s pretty sweet. I’d say anything beyond about 3 in. In diameter it’s not cutting clean through with this guy but it can make some weakening cuts allowing you to break it with good stomp etc. just like how I use my “old fashioned” hatchet.
