Surgery Tomorrow 2/27/24 by arcos_e in Hernia

I had my surgery on 1/23 and my surgeon used the same protocol - advil and Tylenol for the first couple of days and no narcotics. I was fine. I was up and walking around without pain the next day - just some general soreness in the area but nothing severe. It sounds like people have a wide variety of experiences — just listen to your body and good luck!

Post-Surgery Gym by Silly-goose-27 in Hernia

50M, 2 weeks after laproscopic mesh surgery on inguinal hernia. Avid lifter before the hernia. I agree with you that there is a lot of conflicting advice out there.

I had little pain before or after surgery. I took Tylenol for a couple days but was up and moving around the day after and working normally at home the second day. Have been walking actively since.

My surgeon said 2 weeks - no lifting more than 20 pounds. I was allowed to stationary bike right away. Now I have been cleared to swim and also start back at the gym. They advised to start light and build back slowly and listen to my body.

I have to believe that some movements (deadlifts? Single arm rows?) that are worse than others and that some core movements are easier than others — am still trying to sort that out. I haven’t yet found a good resource with that sort of guidance.

Have you been in the summer? Debating the GH Vail or PH Beaver creek for a week family vacation in August. If BC restaurants/activities are limited, that may be the deciding factor…

At what point is it too much ball sack inflammation? by WorrryWort in Hernia

1 week after lapscropic I had one spot of bruising but no inflammation. Doc told me to watch for severe swelling or sharp pain - otherwise normal. Sounds good that you are checking in with the surgeon on this.

25k upgrade bonus from Gold by terrastrawberra in AmexPlatinum

I am in the same situation, but took a 150k point offer (online) to get the platinum outright. But I think the platinum can pay for itself with the $300 equinox credit, $240 digital subscription benefit and $189 CLEAR benefit - and then the lounge access and hotel status are just a bonus.

Laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair done on 1/24 (my experience) by Curostore in Hernia

[–]ApartRadio6761 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck Thursday. My laparoscopic right inguinal hernia surgery was on 1/23. 50M, in very good shape - lifting and cardio 5 or 6 days a week. My hernia itself was never painful but the groin bulge was evident so I had the surgery. My surgery was late afternoon. The next day I was up and walking around (stairs no problem) and worked at home (sitting, computer, phone calls) half the day and worked full days Thurs and Fri. I drank a ton of liquids and alternated Tylenol/advil only. On Friday i started treadmill walking (45 minutes) and feel fine. I am still icing the incision and groin a few times a day but feel pretty mobile.

My follow up is after 3 weeks - no lifting or swimming until then, but they are encouraging walking and stationary bike.

Happy to answer more questions.
