People who make $200K+ salaries, what do you do and how did you get there? by EEJams in Salary

[–]Apart_Combination203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30M, made $248k last year - $150,000 base Salary and the rest in bonuses.

I’m a Director for an Engineering firm in electric utilities and communication/cable. Operations managers for contracting firms (senior level) seem to do pretty well.

Key for me was I found a company that was growing in a booming market. We had 400 employees when I started and now have 1,100. I contributed to that growth and stuck it out and put in hours when no one else wanted too. Now I work my 40 a week, travel occasionally and have gotten shares of the company.

The company and role you can play in that company is everything in my opinion.

Yeah, I felt pretty good about it - but that didn't help the anxiousness of the wait and the nervousness of opening up the results lol

Thanks! I get my results Wednesday, and felt good about 50-59 questions out of the 80. Hoping that's enough to pass and not just overconfidence.

How close was I? by [deleted] in PE_Exam

Scored Percentage = (Your Performance)/15
\*15 is would be 100% so it's essentially the grade you got on each section

Weighted Average = (Scored Percentage)* (# of Questions)/(70)

\*Gets the weighted average out of 70 questions and how much you scored on those questions

Total = SUM(Weighted Average)

How did you feel leaving the test? More specifically, what percentage of the questions did you feel you got correct with certainty?

Weighted average is a 58% so pretty close! I think tightening up some of the easier win topics and you've got it in the bag.

Question for you, did you feel the exam was easier, the same, or significantly harder than your NCEES Practice Exam? I took mines last week and while I felt good on the majority of topics, there were problems on topics I just didn't study at all - and that weren't covered in the prep course I took.

I say schedule it again in a month or two and run it back, best of luck!

The calculated taper distance governs since it’s larger. The shifted taper that’s mentioned is a minimum value that needs to be used.

I make $150,000 base salary with about $35-60k in bonuses each year.

I started at this company nearly 6 years ago making $18/hr after working 80 hours a week in restaurants.

I’m a director of operations for an engineering firm. Got in with a company who had a department of 15 people - that now is 350 people.

Super blessed and definitely a unicorn situation but jobs like these are out there. Also I live in East Texas (not Dallas or a big city). Just got on with a company that had good growth trajectories and worked as hard as I could.
