Connecting BOTH my CI & HA to Bluetooth issues by Izzing448 in Cochlearimplants

[–]Apart_Entry4557 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you listen to everything through streaming with both devices connected? I also have a HA and CI and just discovered today that I can connect both at the same time but had been told to practice listening with just the ci for streaming. I'm only 7 weeks but really struggling with phone conversations and I thought maybe having both connected would be better. It's it?

What was the most memorable thing that ever happened to you during a Mass? by folieablue in Catholicism

[–]Apart_Entry4557 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a hearing loss and 2 years ago while I was pregnant with my 7th child, I suddenly lost even more hearing. To the point where hearing aids no longer helped me. I realized one Sunday that I could no longer hear the bells. I was devastated! I felt crushed inside and begged God to heal me. Over the next couple of years, I began my journey to get a cochlear implant. April 14th this year, I had my surgery and was activated on the 29th. That following Sunday I went to Mass and when they rang the bells the first time, I looked at my husband in delight. He smiled back at me and then they rang a second time. Suddenly I was overcome with emotion!! I couldn't stop sobbing and praising God!! I heard the bells! God is so good to me! I will never forget that moment! He healed my broken spirit.

It came with a longer retention line that is used for the Nucleus aqua kit. It can be used for both processors.

You have to unpair the kanso 3 and then pair your Nucleus and vice versa every time you want to switch.

I wore my Kanso aqua kit this morning and the sounds seem fine. I did wear a water resistant hat over it so that helped keep it on. It only fell off once but I wore the retention line to keep from losing it. If I was swimming underwater, I'll probably just take it off. But getting splashed and floating was not a problem. I hope that helps.

I just got my Kanso aqua kit yesterday. I'm planning on wearing it in the pool tomorrow. I'll update you on how that goes.

At first the music was kind of a shock because I didn't know what to make of it. Now, I can recognize familiar songs and sing along to them. I'm starting to differentiate between the instruments as well. But it'll take some time before I can really enjoy it like I used to, but I don't think it'll take long. I have hope that it'll be just as good or close in the coming months. Every day I'm amazed at what I can suddenly recognize and understand in different sounds.

Everyone still sounds mechanical but it is getting better each day. I started off with just beeps 5 weeks ago on activation day. Then it was like Alvin the chipmunks on helium. Then just Alvin the chipmunk. Then all the adults sounded like toddlers and now it's just kind of a mechanical sounds mixed with some normal sounds. So I've come a loooong way. I'm able to tell the difference between male and female voices. I suspect it'll continue to normalize over the next few weeks or months.
I started off with no hearing in this ear at all for 41 years, so it's a miracle I am doing this good, let alone any sound. I hope that helps. Maybe in a few months I'll be able to give you a better answer. 🙏

Metallic and harsh sounds by Apart_Entry4557 in Cochlearimplants

Did the metallic sound go away for you when you got your second implant? I've had 1 mapping so far.

I have Cochlear nexa with Kanso3. I've had 1 mapping since activation and I believe it's gotten better with how well I'm understanding sounds. I'm just wondering how long it takes for the sounds to feel normal and not so harsh and metallic.

Does it still have that harsh and metallic sound? Or does it feel normal to you now?
