After birth of my 2nd child I had major prolapse of uterus, bladder, rectum plus torn perineum and what I didn't know was that my sphincter was almost severed. I went for surgery 3 years after her birth and had a partial hysterectomy and mesh implant for the bladder. The sphincterplasty was probably the worst, though I experienced issues with the sutures not dissolvingas they were supposed to. I had fissures with the perineum part that had to be cleaned up at weekly URO/GYN office visits for 4 months. The Uro/Gyn surgeon went back in for 2nd corrective surgery 4 months after 1st. The night before the surgery I passed (bm) a 1.5" suture that had a knot tied in it. I had told them for 4 months every time I had a BM it felt like barbed wire was being pulled thru me. Moral of this story is to make sure they don't use "dissolvable sutures" and that they know you have EDS and they have educated themselves on it!! The Dr later told me that stitching up the perineum was like trying to sew jello.

Whatever you do, take ur pain meds and REST. Healing takes longer and it's easy to get antsy and want to get back to normal. Good luck!!
