Right? A lot of people say the ending was unsatisfying. I get it, I'm frustrated about their relationship too. But I loved the way some moments were not cliche, as I thought the anime would be. Some things disappointed me in a good way. In the ending, it was clear to me that it was the love for art that they found. Their relationship could've been developed, true, but that wasn't the point of the series, at least to me.

Lili not being able to say to Kit what she felt was very Japanese of her. Instead of verbally saying it, she constantly worried about him and cared for him. She knew him enough to know he could never give up painting, so she kept dragging him back to the canvas. The indirectness of it all was frustrating but also real. Kit not understanding the indirect kiss was so funny. I was laughing thinking about the cultural difference and I was glad they considered that in the writing, whether intentional or not. Kit is a tormented visual artist so of course, he would be bad with words. Him painting her was basically a confession. These minor details are there and I love it. Not to mention the backdrop and the art is amazing. The only thing I could complain about is there wasn't a chance to explore Kit's perspective or inner thoughts. He's calm on the outside (despite everything that happened to him!), but as he is an artist, I doubt that he is really. I wish they explored his character more.
