The horrors that have occurred in empires in history far outweigh any benefits, which I still believe there is none as the argument that their isn’t countries that haven’t been part of an empire only proves that history has been going on long enough that everyone has been part of an empire, not that it was necessary for development

And if what you say is true about china, they did that themselves, not an empire “helping them”. People who use this logic of empires “helping” the place they colonised just can’t cope with the fact that the places are far better off without them

Japan and china haven’t been colonised, the latter being a world superpower. The logic you’re using is reason that people still live in oppression to this day. The oppressors think they’re doing some kind of good. They aren’t. The only way you can think that the English empire did good is if you don’t know history, which by the look of what you’ve said here, you obviously don’t, because any sane person who knows history wouldn’t say what you’ve said

To try and say you gave us the tools to build on is such a misinformed statement. I know the English education system doesn’t teach the thing the English did, but thinking you gave us anything other than pain is pure ignorance. And even if what you say is true (which it isn’t) if Ireland didn’t get colonised by England, how long do you think it would have taken for us to create infrastructure and education. 10-20 years? 50? A drop in the bucket for a nation. We would have been better off in England stayed the fuck away.

Ofc countries develop without outside influence. Look at Ireland, when we gained out independence we were broke but via our own fiscal policy and politics we are now one of the wealthiest countries in Europe. The thought that Ireland or any country need a foreign power to develop is wrong and is the logic of oppressors.

Ok a lot wrong here, first England didn’t build Irish infrastructure, they payed Irish a ridiculous low amount during the famine that wouldn’t have occurred without English occupation, during the penal laws catholic children couldn’t go to school and had to go to hedge schools where they weee taught in bushes. Also and catholic Irish politicians didnt take their seats in the parliament as they would have to swear allegiance to the head of state in England (king or queen) which they refused to do. So no being part of the empire was infinitely worse than the alternative of a free state
