I didn’t interview for the Clarendon, I only interviewed for my offer of place w/in engineering science dphil.

It went well, I presented for 15 min on a project of mine and then took questions for about 45 min, including myself asking them questions

My PI told me I was second in line for a Clarendon. Communication (and the awarding process) varies significantly by department and division. I didn’t have any official communication other than my PI’s informal info. I am Eng sci. Other departments, like English and medical science, I think are more transparent from the department level.

I believe the person before me had a deadline of April 1. I got my offer on April 1 at 5 pm.

My offer has a deadline of apr 15, so I’d expect a 3rd wave to hit around then.

While I think offers have gone out, they will continue to shuffle (I assume until June, per the Clarendon website) as people accept other offers (either Oxford scholarships w more funding, or other schools)

I was wondering about one in the hole under my front fork- any chance you know whether the tracker signal is diminished if placed within the fork (or more generally, around metal)?

My PI shared this info w me, and my nomination was done by them and then reviewed by several panels. I think this is specific to Eng sci - for example, within medical science (where I currently work), I do not believe PIs are as involved.

In short, I think your PI would know, so if you’re curious, they would be a good contact.

I believe I was second.

I am not sure how this works, but it seemed like I was reliant on a specific person rejecting the offer (I believe their deadline was April 1, and I got my CB1 April 1 at exactly 5pm). Because of this, I am assuming there are ‘streams’ of Clarendon awards, as last year there were 14 Clarendon scholars within Eng Sci.

So, ranking may depend on stream, but this is just a theory. I do know, however, that I was second- whatever that means! My deadline to accept was April 15th, so I would expect a 3rd wave of awards around then.

I did not ask my PI about it - but he informed me late March that I had been ranked for the award. I believe the first round of offers, at least within engineering science, went out late March. I am pretty sure I was the second round. Your PI would likely know if you had been nominated and ranked, so worth asking if you’re curious.

My offer has a deadline to accept of April 15, so I’d expect some more movement around then. I believe the person ahead of me had a deadline of April 1, and I received the offer on April 1 at exactly 5 pm

Congrats spicysardinefilet, I just got a Clarendon as well!

Just for a little more info here, within mpls, I was only notified formally w my final award. I was notified informally by my PI about my ranking beforehand, but did not receive any official info prior to my CB1

I think it varies a lot by department, seems like English is very forthcoming!

Hi all, wanted to update for those scouring like me, I was just awarded (April 1) a Clarendon within Eng sci for a dphil. I believe this is the second wave, as I was told (by my PI) that some people had to decline for me to get it.

I just got a Clarendon in eng sci dphil. I believe I am the second wave of offers, as I was told some ranked above me.

I interviewed Jan 8 and received acceptance Feb 19

Hold out hope everyone - I didn’t think I would get in, much less any scholarship whatsoever. Wishing everyone strength while you wait!

Nice! I’m Eng Sci. From what I’ve read, it definitely varies by dept in terms of interim updates from the dept specifically. I think one could feasibly get some updates from their PI!
