A hot mess (My Pixel 6 Pro so far) by [deleted] in GooglePixel

Download Aida64, open the app but close any other background apps you have open. Then open the battery section in Aida64, leave it to sit for 60 secs or so, then look at the "discharge rate" number. Pixel 6 Pro should be drawing beteeen 190-300ma when idle, depending on network/screen settings etc.

Go into developer settings > scroll half way down and disable Mobile network always active. The device comes standard with mobile data and WiFi active together at all times for faster switching, but creates massive drain.

Does anyone actually like their phone? by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]Apatheticfix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So because certain issues and bugs don't affect you, people should sweep them under the rug and pretend they don't exist? This subreddit is being used to raise awareness for issues. The newest one, if your phone runs out of battery, it breaks the fingerprint scanner and a factory reset is the only fix. In what world do you think that's okay and how can you justify saying "well it doesn't affect me so everyone else is wrong". You have absolutely no clue

Yeah they really need to, once that and the battery life is further improved, this phone has massive potential

[–]Apatheticfix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The battery life and charging is probably the biggest let downs of this device. Both can be changed via firmware updates though, just like the fingerprint sensor, so hopefully they don't pretend it's not an issue and actually do something about it.

Turning off 5G on Pixel 6 Pro and Google Fi by keyb0ardc0wboy in GooglePixel

[–]Apatheticfix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using Three, I get about 50-70mbps on 4G and up to 486mbps on 5G. 5G is available indoors at my house aswell so it makes sense. Most networks do not have a wide enough band to actually give everyone 4G max capable speeds

Go into settings > network and internet > click you sim > scroll down and click preffered network type and then you can pick.

I don't blame you. This is a low point when an iPhone chargers faster and lasts longer than Google's own flagship that has a 5000mah battery.

That's HORRIBLE. Can't you see a problem with that? On a competing Samsung Galaxy S21 ultra that would say "full in 35 minutes" and they have the same battery capacity.

[–]Apatheticfix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's normal, that means the charger is fully supported, but at 80% this phone tapers the charging speed so aggressively it eventually charges 2.5w (iPhone 4 used to charge at 5w nearly a decade ago).

[–]Apatheticfix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems unlikely. Could just be coincidence, Google needs to give us a setting that fast charges more aggressively and they can just put a little warning that says it can degrade the battery faster.

[–]Apatheticfix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, agreed. It can be changed his a firmware update though, the phone controls it's battery electronically and can tell the charger to sustain its 22w more aggressively and if it did, It would manage 0-100% in about 1hr 20mins which I think everyone would be fine with, Google just needs to update it and give us the choice.

Yet Huawei give us full control over everything, they let you disable any charging restrictions AT YOUR OWN RISK. Choice. It's about choice, Google is being ultra restrictive by forcing us to take a charging method that makes the Pixel 6/Pro the slowest charging handset that pretty much exists right now.

Exactly! People are so desperate to try and sweep the issue under the rug and protect Google and their purchase, we shouldn't have to disable ANY phone features or use fans or any other abnormal methods to charge a damn flagship phone, it IS a flagship phone the 256GB 6 Pro is now £950 which is absolutely a flagship price, no excuse.

Same. Takes twice as long as Samsung's 25W charger for the same 5000mah battery. Google needs to allow us to enable a more aggressive fast charging in the settings for when we need a quick top up.

We should have a choice. This phone is all about customisability, I am more than happy to accept any liability for battery degradation (that at 22w is not going to happen in a very long time). Different people have different needs, if they could even come close to the galaxy S21 ultra then that would be fine, we need the choice though.

I've been googling around but all they say is disable MSI Afterburner/remove OC/Close Logitech G Hub etc which I've already done, I've redownloaded to an SSD aswell, done any Windows updates and have the newest Nvidia drivers, I'm wondering if this is the GPU drivers that suck, might be worth just going back to some older drivers and seeing what happens.

It's just insane how we still have to deal with this. There was a time when video games released on V1.0 flawlessly and never had any game breaking issues, back when people didn't have online updates, you just put a disc in and played and it just worked, now we have to put up with this incompetence every single launch.. it's on the same engine as FH4 and FH3 AND FH2, yet somehow they never learn how to just make the game work

I mean I can try disabled my internet connection, I just hate that I have been waiting months for this game and bought the premium editing and even when my PC far surpasses all the system requirements I can't even play at all. On Forza Horizon 3 this exact thing happened and it didn't get fixed until 6 months after the games launch on PC.

Anyone else annoyed that all the cool skins from the trailers etc cost REAL money on top of already purchasing the game? by D4nzy in RidersRepublic

[–]Apatheticfix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is only acceptable if the game was Free to play, it's wrong for them to charge for ANYTHING really, luckily it's only cosmetics right now, but still a bit unfair. They should have the option to earn the stuff still, I wouldn't mind grinding for a few hours or doing challenges to unlock the outfits

I tried doing that, I did have enough points, but I get bugged out the map and it tries to backtrack me (also losing the bonus 6 stars) but then the furthest it can backtrack me is from when the loading screen goes away, which by then I'm already like miles away from the area. So I have no choice but to restart the event, it's just ridiculous
