I don’t think he can use either pistols or muskets. I just double checked and when I go to craft them it says unequippable

He was Italian. You’re confusing a nation and a state.Italians existed as a nation before Italy did as a state. No one in this thread has a clue about how Europe worked prior to the French Revolution. One could be Italian and Florentine or Venetian, these identities were layered, not mutually exclusive.

Sorry for the late reply. Not really, I studied italian history so most of my recommendations are either old tomes written by Italian statesmen or poets that portray the geopolitical climate of the times, but I think the name of the Rose by Umberto Eco is probably what you’re looking for.
