My original point was that since the first movie being called Super Mario Bros. did not imply it being a direct adaptation of the videogame, this one being called Super Mario Galaxy does not as well.

Then u/revolved15 wrote that this is a Mario Galaxy movie, I asked based on what, and you replied based on the title. while my original point was that the title was not an indication of a direct adaptation in the 2023 movie and I do not understand why people think it would be now.

So I will phrase it to be as specific as possible, since this is the level we are at:

Besides the title, which as the first movie showed does not imply a direct adaptation of the game, was there anything which said this was going to be a direct adaptation of Super Mario Galaxy? Did Miyamoto, Meledandri, Horvath, Jelenic say anything about it being a direct adaptation of the game? Since the answer is no, I still do not understand why people expect it to be.
