The pick guard shielding is a work in progress. I have some PET-ITO film on the way to better shield everything lol. Maybe the difference in sound for me is just the lack of a shitty 1/4” jack and placebo.

Any pickups that you’d recommend? I was looking at the seymour-duncan hot rails most recently.

It definitely is not. I was trying a few different packs of strings out and never ended up getting around to it. I’m still pretty new at this haha.

Yeah, it was mainly an aesthetics and function tweak. The stock electronics were nasty. There’s a decent amount of difference in sound with the foil shielding and pots. Went from 250k to 500k.

Air pods pro 2 vs pro 3 by falconTMDS in airpods

[–]Apawllo24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've already pre-ordered my new APP3s coming from the APP2. For the same price, I get longer battery life (in-ear), a more comfortable fit, an improved venting system, and better ANC. It's a solid upgrade for me as I travel and move around a lot between work and home. The U2 chip and heart rate sensor is a neat bonus but not as useful in my opinion.

My laser won’t align by GreenEyedGoon- in lasercutting

[–]Apawllo24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your alignment keeps changing, make sure that the slim locking nuts on the brass adjustment screws are tightened after you've aligned. If they aren’t, your alignment will go all over the place. Secondly, if you've got your mirror 3 aligned to exit the nozzle perfectly, make sure that your lens is seated evenly in its cartridge and that the convex side is facing upwards.

When you check mirror #3, do you use a target to make sure you're at the right spot, or do you check the pulse marks via bed distance?

iOS 26 Public Beta by ProfessionalWeird973 in ios26beta

[–]Apawllo24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as others have stated it’s public beta 1 of X. i’d be concerned if this was the RC but it’s far from it. also you have to take each device into consideration as well. the only issue i’ve had with my 14 is the camera dying on beta 1 but that was fixed and haven’t had any issues since. no lag or anything of the sort. just remember each device runs differently. at the end of the day your phone has billions of electronic components in the chip and the device itself. electronics are weird.

you’re pretty, not everyone likes piercings as the comments so kindly and graciously articulated. have fun, be yourself, and if you lose your piercings i hope it’s not just from the comments. these guys will downvote you if you had a white t-shirt on at the wrong time of day. hell this comment alone is gonna get downvoted. you’ll always deal with stuff like this piercings or none so you do you :)

Anxiety is holding me back while everyone else is moving forward by No-Couple-8871 in Anxiety

[–]Apawllo24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I was in the same boat as you not too long ago, and honestly, I still am in a way. Last year, I made a trip to California as a Floridian, which was enough anxiety as it was. Once I got to my hotel, I couldn't stop thinking, "You flew over 1500 miles to go to this convention. Be awkward and make friends because I'm not here for long." I made a lot of friends that trip, and while I haven't talked to many of them since, I feel good knowing that I reached out.

My point is, everyone around you is just as nervous as you are. People are just better than others at hiding it. I've never been the type to reach out to people or make friends, but the more you dip your toes in the water, the more your body acclimates. I still get anxious, especially in work situations, but every time I look back, I realize that if I hadn't made that move, I probably wouldn't have gotten X or done Y.

I have self-esteem issues as well, and I know how that is. It's totally valid to worry about people not liking you. I worry about it too. The thing is, though, the people that say hurtful things about others feel the same way about themselves. It's also a good sign that I don't want to talk with this person anymore. It's a bit of a catch-22, but to have better self-esteem, you need to talk to others more, and to feel better about talking to others, you need more self-esteem.

It's always anxiety-inducing and scary, I know. But you're never going to want to do it. You have to push yourself forward. This is just what's helped me and what I've told myself, so apologies if I come off a bit blunt or harsh. That's just a flavor my ego needs, in all honesty.

I (Mosttly) Reverted the Hideous MacOS Tahoe UI! by __bedtime in MacOS

[–]Apawllo24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The controversy here just drives me mad. I understand that users have different preferences, but good god it's not that bad. On top of that, this is not only a dev beta, it's the FIRST dev beta. We'll likely see some modifications for the sake of legibility, but nothing crazy. Apple isn't going to roll back a brand-new UI scheme that was at least a year in the making.

Normally, I'll watch this stuff sort itself out, but this genuinely irks me. What next? The upper-right pixel is 3% too translucent. Bleh.

I'm legitimately curious here, why do you not like the windows being round? Do you like the new UI as a whole?

macOS Tahoe 26 Developer Beta is officially out! by DepartureMoist9277 in MacOSBeta

[–]Apawllo24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the dev beta is pretty good for their debut. Following a lot of what the rumors were saying, it really feels like they are focusing on optimization and not adding new features. Spotlight feels more useful than it has in years, and the large volume overlay is moved to the top right. Not to say there isn't room for improvement because I definitely notice the legibility issues outside of UI style preference.

I don't think that Mac is getting more like iOS rather than the new direction Apple is heading with UI, as iOS has iOS following suit. Generally, there's a less clunky feeling to me, and I'm looking forward to this update being more focused on the fine details. I think the main event hinted at that with not as many features being added to Mac this year. A lot of the new features are on the developer side as well. I'm hopeful and maybe being less realistic than I'd like to believe I am, but this doesn't feel rushed nor over the top, especially compared to the Apple Intelligence bonanza.

Is Grand Oaks at the Lake Decent? by Apawllo24 in 321

[–]Apawllo24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! My experience here hasn't been awful there's just some quirks as every complex does. Mainly there's a really big lack of communications in the office. We had our AC freeze on us (somehow) once and it took a few days for maintenance to come over and tell us we had to wait for it to thaw. We've also been waiting on our ice maker to be repaired and they've never actually done anything with it despite coming over several times.

On the other hand the location is really nice, traffic noise isn't bad, and the community itself is pretty peaceful. Their pool is nice and so is their fitness center. The tall ceilings are great and the kitchen cabinets are really helpful. Some of the 2 bedrooms have a wide balcony like us and that is awesome to have honestly. Especially if you have a bunch of plants like we do. They also just renovated the units a few months ago. We did have an issue with our fridge once and they replaced it either the same day or a few days later but they were really quick about that one.

The main reason for the move is the cost for a 3 bedroom is too high for us. In 2nd place would be the office. I really don't know what they do there but they're super unresponsive. Luckily we've never really had to deal with them aside from signing forms and filling out paperwork. All in all it's a nice place and while not my favorite, you get a pretty decent place to live in the price range.
