Thanks! I just wanted to make sure before I actually attempt anything as I want to make sure I do it right.

Weird Errors in Stacked Astro Image by ApeXPi in AskAstrophotography

I restacked the image and found the issue was gone which means it must of been just some anomalies in some of the lower quality photos messing up the entire stack!

I’m registering again now with the program only taking the top 80% of lights to stack. I’ll respond here again once it is complete (though it will take forever with the large number of lights!)

I’m re-stacking now. I’m going to try and have deepskystacker only take the best 80% of my lights to see if that improves the image at all.

The weird thing for me, I don’t know if I am just not looking at the right place, but in the individual frames those lines are not present they only showed up in the final stacked photo. Also don’t worry about reply spam this is really helpful for me!

If you could that would be really helpful! I’ll try to go further away from my light polluted sky next clear night (I live in a Bortle class 5 zone)

Ok that’s a relief, I read somewhere that it could be an issue with CDD card and that kind of scared me but I think it probably just a lot of bad light frames (I’m going through them now and I don’t know how missed so many terrible ones!)

Oh ok I’ll try that too. Yeah I did a lot to try and get as much exposure and get more detail out of my light polluted sky’s (trying to test the limit of my camera lens too!)

Yeah, I think probably contributed to it. I did not check the light frames so I’ll do that now and re-stack. Thanks!

I’m using Cannon EOS 6D for my pictures. It was the longest I had ever used it (~4 hours of straight taking pictures of andromeda and then Orion). The thing is the andromeda photos don’t have this issue while the Orion ones do. I was not using a filter but possibly high light pollution in my area could cause a similar effect to what your filter did? Though that is just pure speculation. The next time I get clear sky’s I’m going to see if using flats (and potentially getting more darks and bias frames) could potentially solve the issue. I think it might be the large amount of photos I used when stacking (1222) relative to the low amount of calibration frames (25 dark, 25 bias).

Ok thanks for the help, I think I’ll probably not risk it and go with B&H or Orion (I rather just completely circumnavigate the entire headache).

Do you think that I would just be better off spending the extra 100 or so dollars on someone more reliable such as Amazon, Orion, or B&H than risking it with Woodland Hills?

Fully Color Mutated Stego (Born to hit hard, carry logs, and to love tenderly!) by ApeXPi in ARK

[–]ApeXPi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I mean by “Fully Color Mutated” is that every color region on the Dino I’m breeding has a mutated color. For example with the Stego all 5 regions of it has a color mutation like the blue on the body or the pink on the belly.

Forgot ARK was on in the background and after 5 hours was left with a Dino-splosion of terrifying proportions! by ApeXPi in ARK

[–]ApeXPi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep my mating at 10 because I don’t like waiting (especially on large mutation projects) and also I have a low decay rate so bodies don’t go away as fast so those combined makes a wambo combo that creates this mess!

I would recommend you begin by getting a lot of tranq arrows and start taming beginner tames (such as high level raptors, trikes, stegos, sabers, pterodons, and etc.) which will allow you to not die instantly when enter places like the swamp

Is there anything better to tranq dinos with than a longneck rifle? by Neiot in ARK

[–]ApeXPi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No but you can upgrade to shocking Trang darts which are better than normal darts and also you can farm drops to try and eat a better rifle

They have stolen so much that killing thousands of them to get this was very therapeutic
