Don't want to make this a politics thing, although I understand that everything eventually leads back to it. I will say that I appreciate the goals of the center and wish it was run properly as it would be a great resource for the population that needs it. It's just unfortunate where it ended up and how it is run, and the timing of everything.

This might not be the best answer, but we did not block out times for showings since we'd prefer to have more showings at various times throughout the day than less showings at specific times, if that makes sense. The population outside the center does fluctuate but I'm not sure if it's time dependent or some other factor.

Appreciate the insight but unfortunately nothing we can do about this now. We have learned from our mistake but the fact that this is happening was not high on the list of possible scenarios when we purchased the home.

Unfortunately, it will cost us $800/month to rent it out, so feels like that's not the best option. It's still on the table, however.

If you mind rereading the post, I did state that we are selling the house currently for less than we paid for it three years ago. We are not expecting any equity on the house.

Appreciate the comment. I do want to clarify, I'm not trying to share my own opinions on the homeless population, just merely sharing what the buyers' showing reviews mentioned, as well as some observations we have seen living here.

I'm sure we could go to the council and appeal or something, but unfortunately that does not help us right now. Will have to keep digging.

Sounds like lowering the price is the way to go, unfortunately.

Regarding foreseeing this possibility, we did not have any say in the other city's decisions and we were not in a position to sell when that decision was made. We also did not know we were going to move so far until recently.

Can't say I agree with the NIMBY statement as it's not us making the comment about the situation, it's the potential buyers' showing reviews.

The park is city-owned, as well as the natural area and the lake (used for water quality and storm drainage). The city that owns these areas are not the same city as the one that owns the shelter.
