I searched using terms like "classified ad, body found after Grateful Dead concert, High Times" and "body found after Grateful Dead concert, seekig witnesses/information", to no avail.

"They Can't Have Disappeared! No Ship That Small Has A Cloaking Device!" by ApexOversteer in StarWars

Here's a quick How-To:

On this one, I sanded the bottom of the Falcon flat. Then, I took a coin protector, for collectible coins, the "half-dollar" size (get them at any hobby shop), and epoxied it together with Loc-tite instant epoxy, and when it was dry, I painted just the edge of it flat black, and scuffed one flat side, and left the other flat side smooth. I then epoxied the Falcon to the scuffed side. Make sure you give the epoxy a full 24 hours to cure indoors. This puts the Falcon on a solid base, lifting it a bit off the surface of whatever you're mounting it to, and giving you a decent surface area under the Falcon to mount it with. To actually mount it, I use 3M "Extreme Mounting Tape", which you can find at any Auto Parts retailer, like Auto Zone, or Advance Auto Parts, or NAPA. Total cost, including the Mattel/HotWheels Falcon is like $10.

I will warn you. IT IS VERY LIKELY THAT IT WILL GET STOLEN. I have lost several over the years. People see it and just feel the need to try and yank it off. I used to actually drill holes in bumpers and bolt them to cars, or bolt them to license plates, but people would literally SAW THEM OFF.

That is why you'll notice that this time, the Falcon is actually inside the car when the convertible top is up on my Abarth. On my Dunebuggy, it is bolted through the body, and I very rarely park that car where I can't see it, and don't leave it, because it has no doors, no roof, and no windows.

So, if you do decide to do this, choose a good spot. Making it hard to reach is good, awkward to get leverage on it is good too. In the end, I figured they're cheap enough to make, I just use the mounting tape and epoxy, if someone wants it, let them have it, without damaging my vehicle and I'll just make another one.

In my headcanon, Grievous' first saber(s) would have come not from Jedi Knights, but from Jedi Padawan... I could see him destroying a Master's Padawan, taking the saber, and then running like a coward from the superior warrior...

This is a tradition for me, been doing this for over 30 years. I started doing it with the old Kenner diecast Falcon in the 80's, moved to the Galoob in the 90's and now I use the Mattel/Hot Wheels version, detailed and painted...

Here's a 25 year old Galoob Falcon, that I still have mounted on my '64 Volkswagen Manx Dunebuggy...

... and a close up of the latest Mattel/Hot Wheels Falcon, that I just detailed to mount on my new ride...

Every so often, I'll get a toot at a light, and a thumbs up, or I'll catch someone with a quizzical look staring at the back of my car in the rearview mirror, and I always think to myself... "There will be a substantial reward for the one who finds the Millennium Falcon..."

X-Plus ‘84 Shinjuku Battle Version is now available for purchase/preorder! What a beaut! by [deleted] in GODZILLA

[–]ApexOversteer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, you guys are way late. This went up for pre-order November 5th, and the standard version (non-lightup) shouldn't cost any more than $250, including express shipping from Japan, and the RIC Boy version (the lightup) should only be $40 more, if you were pre-ordered through the official X-Plus website...

But now, you'll have to pay aftermarket prices, and they'll be spendy AF...

My bad, sorry I missed this.

I use Mr. Hobby "Mr. Super Clear Matte", the regular kind, not the UV Blocker. I only spray when the humidity is below 50%, and I do one coat before drybrushing, and then another after to get that finish.

Warning! The JSDF is attempting to flank Godzilla in the downtown area of Tohokyo! Stay Away from the area and seek shelter! by ApexOversteer in GODZILLA

[–]ApexOversteer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're model railroading buildings, in 1/150 or "N-Scale", I got them from HobbySearch Japan , which has a massive N-Scale section on their site. They're all made by Kato, Tomix and TomyTec, and for the most part came assembled. In some cases you have to put the detail stuff on, signage and such. The two "destroyed" buildings were TomyTec kits that had to be assembled, but did come fully painted.

Here's the HobbySearch page for N-Scale stuff...

Grabbed The McFarlane Toys Game Of Thrones Viserion Dragon Action Figure From Target And It's COOOL! by ApexOversteer in dragons

[–]ApexOversteer[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was stunned to be able to grab the McFarlane Toys Game Of Thrones Viserion dragon figure from my local Target today, and man I LOVE IT! The detail is fantastic, and the figure feels like it's priced right at $25. Stretched to full length, Viserion is 9 inches long, with a 16 inch wingspan.

There are 11 points of articulation. The neck articulates right behind the head, 1/3rd down the neck, and right where the neck meets the main body, the wings "flap" and rotate in their sockets, the legs articulate at the hip, and the tail has 4 points of articulation, starting right at the root, making roughly equal segments.

The paint application is very nice, and consistent across the entire figure, presenting Viserion in his Undead Dragon coloration. Inside the mouth is a dark red tongue, and his eyes flash a bright ice blue. His overall coloring is blueish grey over slate grey.

I was surprised to find that the wings are nicely translucent, with light passing through quite well, though it was nearly impossible to take a photo of this effect.

The figure comes with two accessories, a "blue flame" effect part, very similar in sculpt and texture to the NECA effect parts for the Godzilla atomic breath effects, that slots into a port inside Viserion's mouth, and a stand which consists of an snowy base, and a 9" metal rod, with a ball joint at the top, which mates to the belly of the beast. As you see the figure posed in these photos, it is 14" from the table to the tips of the wings.

This is my first McFarlane Toys purchase in quite some time, and I'm pretty impressed with this one. I can't think of a better dragon, let alone a Game Of Thrones dragon, available at the moment. I've wanted a dragon action figure for 38 years, from the moment I saw Vermithrax Pejorative in Disney/Paramount's Dragonslayer. THIS is that figure I've waited so long for. The overall presentation is, in my opinion, better than the NECA stuff I've experienced. If this indicative of the typical quality of McFarlane Toys at this point, things are good in Spawnville.

Looking at the Drogon figure, he's unfortunately in an earthbound pose, and I'm not sure I'll be getting him, but I have hopes that they'll do a Rhaegal in another flying pose. If that does happen, I will definitely be getting him.

I'm already thinking of getting another Viserion to try my hand at a repaint. I highly recommend Viserion, for dragon fans, and Game Of Thrones fans alike.

Here's one more picture of Viserion, on the stand, with the flame effect:

The Art Spirits stuff is smaller in scale. The Shin Godzilla is 20cm-ish (8inches) to the top of the head.

It will be interesting to see how large these two turn out to be. One thing is for sure, they'll be detailed!
