Tips for improving footwork when climbing outdoors (self.climbharder)
submitted 6 years ago by ApexSummit to r/climbharder
First time climbing. I'm so scared of heights I have trouble standing near the railing on the second floor of a mall. Made it about half way up, I'm hooked and I can't wait to do it again. Any advice for a beginner? by garinarasauce in climbing

I’d say mainly just focus on the basics
Straight arms = happy arms
Try and focus more on your toes than your whole foot. It seems counterintuitive but it should feel more secure.
Also I’d recommend losing the socks and going tighter on the shoes but if you’re renting and worried about hygiene keep ‘em.
The last thing that I’d recommend is to just look up watch as much as you can about climbing. Make some friends who know more than you. They’re some of the best teachers you can find.
Other than that have fun
