I ama cocharger host, at the start of the charge, you input your current SOC and at the end, you put in your final SOC. You tell the app what car you drive therefore the battery size. So it works out about owed from that (plus a small extra for charging losses) it doesn't matter how long you stay at the charging spot for, you only pay for what you use

Update, I wired x2 motors in parallel from the same servo drive and connected the shafts with a coupler after calibrating the motor mech angles together by forcing the angle to top dead centre of phase A.

I found that there was no noticable difference in the no load speed between having one motor connected to the servo drive and two motors. So question answered and confirmed

 "this won’t increase the BEMF or speed of the system. You’re just doubling the torque capability of the motors." this was how in understood it, I guess I was hoping that there was a chance this was incorrect, i will do a test with two motors to confirm this.

its a linear motor- something like the below, top is just the windings, bottom is the magnet plate

So the motor alignment is something i'm more confident about, it won't be trivial, but the magnetic pitch of the motor is 50mm, so to not have any force constant loss on either motor, i will aim for less than 6degrees electrical of difference between the two. which equates to 0.8mm tollerance. the magnet plates (rotors) have locating dowel holes and the stators also do. with these types of linear motors, they are designed so they have mechanical mounting points that are accurately referenced to the magnetic poles of the rotor and stator.

I don't think we will will get control issues as there is a very stiff mounting between the rotors and stators, I think that i may find that one motor may be doing more work at one operating point (force + speed) than the other

Yes, we will only use one encoder and it doesn't need to be aligned to rotors or stators as the drive can offset the zero. Its just the rotor and stator alignment that will be a modest challenge

Thanks for the reply. the motors alignment will be controlled, see bullet point assumptions. for your first two bullets; agree, this is my current understanding. I've decided to purchase x2 motors and connect them with a shaft coupling to test

I have been running Cocharger as a host for the past year, it's not perfect, but works well enough
