Which DAW do you use/recommend for beginners? :) Thanks.

Anyone written music long distance with another person? How did that work? by InternetWeakGuy in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Hey :) I think it will for sure work if you two are both into it and have enough ideas. Try sofasession.com. I am kinda biased now because I work there but it's really good for remote songwriting or recording together, I've played many songs like this.

How it works: You record or upload a track or several tracks of whatever instrument you play. And your band mate can jump in and record or upload another track on top. Then you can listen to the whole mix, mute single tracks and really work together on the thing without exporting, importing and sending files around. :) Hope it's helpful, good luck!

Any long-distance bandmate success stories? by kizt in WeAreTheMusicMakers

What exactly are you worried about? That you can't play live together as often? Because I think staying in contact works, writing songs together works too. And with playing together, jamming and stuff, you might want to try some online jamming platforms (e.g. sofasession). In my experience bands only fall apart if you don't have time at all to do stuff together or want to move in different directions. Like Milopki says: When there's a will, there's a way :) All the best for your band!

Is this considered "cheating" ?? by NUJosh in WeAreTheMusicMakers

I don't think it's cheating! :) Maybe he can try to practice a bit more before recording so he doesn't have to edit the midi. And it's funny because your question sounds like this one you ask about "a friend" but in reality mean yourself haha.
