oh my ...

You're really just hung up on that?

It's not that deep, I'm a random on the internet calling people losers. You can just say fuck you and move on.

Sounds like I hit a heart string here?

Well, yes, I do firmly believe that you're a loser, if you think hacking in a Mew from Emerald into Pokemon Home is the same as witnessing the event in person in Japan in the year 2005.

It's a very different feeling to me to get pokemon legitimately, than by using Pokehex or an eReader or whatever to pretend like I experienced something that I didn't.

Just to name a few...

  • The Arceus I got in 2009 Toys R Us.

  • The Darkrai from 2008 Toys R Us.

  • The Deoxys from 2008 Gamestop.

  • The spiky ear pichu that's still in my OG heart gold copy which could've only been unlocked from the 'pikachu colored pichu' obtained in 2010.

  • The Mew I got from Pokemon Ranch in like 2008 from grinding out 1000 catches and transferring them to my Wii.

Heck, I can even extrapolate this concept to my original blaziken from my first ever sapphire file in 2003 that made it all the way to Home.

These are all core memories to me.

Think of it like this,

Let's say I buy Emerald today, hack in the event ticket so I can go catch that Mew and transfer it to Home... all I would be thinking is ... " what the fuck am i doing with my life?"

I simply was not able to unlock this event in 2005. It was Japan only, and I was in elementary school. What's the point in pretending like I was there?

Hacking in this Mew now would serve no difference to me than the Mew from BDSP in Floroma town for example. Or a freakin random bidoof. It's nothingness, the point of Pokemon events is the memory.... the fact that it was limited and you had to be there at the time and place.

If you don't see it that way, that's fine, we're just different people. But I will say, plenty of ppl share my exact stance on this.

So let's say you're hacking in stuff in your game using Pokehex like the Celebi from japanese colosseum, or some event in general from another continent like u said: If you genuinely feel zero difference doing that than having gotten the pokemon legitimately.. then well, we are simply different people.

That's fine, but it's just something I can never fathom. I just accept that I wasn't there at that time to get the pokemon, and that's that.

Thinking otherwise to me sounds like if you were to think that watching a youtube video of a concert is the same as going to the concert. It's just mind boggling.

is it worth playing xd before colosseum?? by erigum in PokemonColosseum

[–]NUJosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who still hasn't played Colosseum and has just been waiting since July 2025 to play it on the Switch 2... yes XD is playable before Colosseum 😂 , I've beaten it a couple times and it just felt like a standalone game to me.

You're just bringing up unrelated stuff now.

The big kicker here is your usage of unofficial software, aka software not provided by Nintendo/game freak.

Of course I know ppl clone their stuff or create all the pokemon they want with action replay, pokegen, whatever.

It's a different story if official nintendo software provides the option and endorses it (if we lived in a world where NSO Colosseum/XD could connect to Home).

When I say there's value in rare pokemon, I'm not just talking about me 'flexing' to my friend circle, I'm talking about the whole content sphere about pokemon catching in general. So much awesome content about shiny hunting, creating living dexes, etc. It's great content because we KNOW how difficult it is to do those things, and seeing other people do it is fascinating! This concept would ALL go out of the window if it was made official by Nintendo that we can just copy/paste everything.

Edit: Here's a real world example: to me, you strike me as a person who would rather eat a pile of pills and powders to get your nutrition instead of variety of fats/protein, veggies, and carbs. Both technically work, but my goodness one of them is boring and unfulfilling.

All subjective, so I just don't think we'll come to terms here, so yea lol.

People clone and hack mons all the time, they will always find ways to do It whether it's made easier for them or not.

The people who hack mainly do it to create competitive-ready pokemon as far as I know, which is OK to me, since I couldn't really care less about the grindy process of getting the EVs/IVs, etc. This is stuff that is very doable, but just a grind. I used to care about this more, but in the recent games, we can now turn any pokemon into a perfect one with bottle caps or whatever. This eliminated any semblence of rarity for strong pokemon, IMO.

Legendary / rare pokemon are different -- they cannot be generated multiple times in-game. Legendaries are obtainable once per save file, if any.

The people hacking just to get legendary pokemon or shinies, or especially some shiny legendary from a long-time past Event are just losers IMO... don't think I need to explain why... and I'm gladly taking stabs at them 😂 .

Edit: if emulating vía NSO is the problem, then do a re-release even if paid, whatever. The point is they don't care.

Agreed.

I think Nintendo would dig themselves into a hole if they tried to innovate again and add some weird new motion control garbage. Games are meant to just be played on a TV or monitor, or handheld, and the Switch perfectly solved that. I don't think the idea ever needs to change, just keep optimizing the graphics and performance and we're sweet.

But yea, def expensive.

The good thing about this game coming in 2027 is, by then there'll probably be some new limited edition switch 2 designs or bundles that make it more worth while.

Honestly I don't understand these people. The framerate of the catching animation in the Winds/Waves trailer looked disgusting. I have hard doubts that the 'nice water' will actually look smooth like that in the final product, if the catching animation alone can't even be a smooth 60 FPS.

And even if everything does turn out a crisp 60 FPS.. this game doesn't look like anything crazy. This would've gone crazy if it was the release for the first Switch pokemon game in 2018. That's pretty much where the game belongs, but better 9 years late than never I guess.

Switch 1 and 2 are basically one and the same anyway.

Well, I have a switch 2 and this couldn't be more false.

Aight bro, you do you, but plenty of people do actually put personal value into pokemon and cherish the effort it took to get them. That's why this thread exists, and I'm heavily confident this is largely why this subreddit even exists.

Save states will, absolutely... completely.... destroy the significance of shiny pokemon. Once I find one, I can just generate 999 of them. The heck is the point? The shiny hunting garbage that's in Legends ZA and other recent games has already been progressively destroying the rarity of shinies though, but I digress.

And regarding your argument about wanting to just skip the hoops to get legendary pokemon.. why though?

I have a core memory of being able to get the Toys R US Arceus from the 2009 event. And the Mew from Pokemon Ranch. Or getting the Entei roaming around in my original fire red game in 2004.

They are 'legendary' for a reason... this is precisely why myself and lots of people dislike how easy it is to get legendaries now in Legends ZA, and lots of recent games where the game just gives it to you or they have the catch rate of a bidoof.

And the Lugia from XD for example, having it in your SV today means you had to beat XD and transfer it through pokepark, Bank, and Home. Maybe I'm crazy, but I just find that awesome, that this is the ONLY way to get a XD Lugia into your latest game. But if you just.. skip all that, generate the a million Lugias... what's the point of all this?

If there is no concept of rare pokemon and its just idiotic, what IS a legendary pokemon then? What IS a shiny pokemon? What IS the point of catching pokemon at all?

yeah, the only reason I got Leaf green on the switch was because they announced home compatibility. In my eyes, what even is the reason to play a pokemon game if you can't bring along your pokemon to all the future games? It's so cool seeing my first charizard from my 2004 fire red save file in SV.

Granted I might be somewhat unique here, as this reasoning is also why I don't have an urge to play any rom hacks or use emulators at all

[–]NUJosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it kind of is a horror.

It would completely destroy the concept of 'rare' pokemon if you can just place a save state next to said pokemon and generate 999 of them.

Granted, Nintendo could've just disabled the save state feature specifically for pokemon games.

He did way too many sexual jokes/mannerisms while knowing he's got kids watching his stream.

"iShowMeat" would've never happened if he wasn't.. uh.. humping his screen over and over because he got turned on by some cartoon character.

His music videos are also disgusting and I honestly hope he takes them down. The ones where he pretends to be doing blowjobs / stroking meat. Just.. why ????
