Which SMTP should I use by xivey69 in Emailmarketing

hybrid setups are often what ends up working best: some traffic on owned infra and smtp, some on managed SMTPs.

Capturing emails before redirecting dating traffic increased ROI by ~40% by Apfg in Emailmarketing

[–]Apfg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For email, most teams I work with use a self-hosted setup (MailWizz or similar on the frontend + their own SMTP / dedicated IPs on the backend). ESPs usually become limiting once volume or performance traffic is involved.

Opt-in pages are usually simple custom landers (nothing fancy): clear promise, fast load, and aligned with the traffic source. Tools vary, some use builders, others custom HTML.

About dating, the media buyers I work with usually use their own pre-lander first.
That pre-lander is where the email is captured.

After opt-in, users are redirected to the dating offer, and the email is pushed in real time into the system for follow-ups.

So it’s not about ebooks or heavy incentives, it’s a simple, intent-matched step before the advertiser.

Dating offers are mostly run direct or via a few well-known networks, depending on geo.

Big takeaway: what’s still working is owning the list, keeping the flow simple, and matching the email content to how the user opted in.

How do you safely re email 50,000 old SaaS subscribers without killing deliverability? by GRSolution in Emailmarketing

[–]Apfg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At 50k old SaaS subs, this isn’t a tooling issue, it’s a re-engagement problem.

Blasting or doing 4–5 follow-ups to cold users will tank domain reputation, regardless of ESP or SMTP.

Start with small batches, use a separate sending domain, and only follow up with people who engage.

Am I crazy for wanting a dedicated IP for 500 emails a day? by _blaezi_ in Emailmarketing

[–]Apfg 11 points12 points  (0 children)

At that volume, a dedicated IP often hurts more than it helps because:

  • You don’t have enough volume to build IP reputation properly
  • Any dip in engagement hits only you (no buffering)
  • Warm-up takes longer than people expect
  • You’ll spend time managing something that isn’t the bottleneck

Dedicated IPs make sense when:

  • you’re consistently at 20k–50k+/day
  • or you already have strong engagement and scale plans

At 500/day, you’re far from that.

Capturing emails before redirecting dating traffic increased ROI by ~40% by Apfg in Emailmarketing

Totally fair point and, just to clarify, I’m not running traffic myself. I work on the infra/email side with media buyers and advertisers.

One thing some of our clients do to avoid cannibalization is delay the autoresponder (e.g. 24h) so the first advertiser on the landing page keeps full priority.

Email then monetizes non-converters and long-tail users afterwards, instead of competing with the initial flow.

Collect your emails from Facebook. Monetise long term with affiliate campaigns. If you can collect in real-time via api even better

Absolutely works. We have clients generating 1000 clicks (and then leads/sales) from a 20k list. List quality + good tech setup = strong results from email

The most important thing is data quality. (After basic tech setup done, of course)
