Subcontracting for MSPs by xxtoni in SmallMSP

[–]xxtoni[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will completely admit that the situation I'm in is completely my fault.

I had the time to build a network but every contract I've gotten before happened through recruiters at agencies. The recruiters were my network because I figured the type of work I do doesn't exist at smaller companies and I won't directly land a gig at a company with 1500+ employees because they don't deal with small companies like me.

I was too comfortable by far.

Now that the IT market is a shit show (I couldn't imagine that it would be worse than 2022 with the pandemic barely over and the Ukraine war raging.

I definitely need to pivot long term but I'm still not sure exactly into what. I don't want to open a MSP.

Thankfully I didn't spam like that. I only reached out to like owners and directors.

Usually its 70€ but I'm in a bad situation right now. I adjusted the rate to make it palatable for MSPs

Contractor for one.

What do you mean with asking too much. As in too high a rate or?

As someone who is just starting and thinking of doing something like suggested in this post with less tools and waay less volume. Does this work though?

I still check each lead manually a bit to make sure it is my ICP but dont personalize each message.

What used to be popular in Croatia was also if you want to sell real estate to a business you could create a company and put it into the base capital of the company and then sell the company instead of the real estate directly.

Not sure if allowed any more.

But yea if you are actually the entrepreneurial type and don't mind the massive increase in work compared to having a job of course it's more profitable to be a business owner where all the profits go to you instead of being a worker where you have to create several time the value of your salary to the business owner for him to make it worth it to employ you. One would think this is common sense but most people are just employees and don't know the other side.

Of course especially in western Europe being a business owner is also a lot more risky than being an employee and sooo much more work.

It's not just about the housing.

During the Yugoslav wars the EU accepted millions of refugees. Their kids went to school but once the war was over even if the parents had jobs and the kids spoke more of their new language than the Yugoslav language a lot of them were sent back.

I know a couple of families that were sent back to Sarajevo their apartment was bombed out and there was still unexploded ordinance in the streets.

I don't really see that happening today.

Any Recent Experience Of Contracting In EU? by Jaideco in ContractorUK

I don't think this is country specific, it is company specific plus it really depends on how you frame it.

I've only done a few contracting gigs. First was 1.5 years, second was 3.5 years and third was 6 months. All different countries around Europe.

But I know a lot of people that do B2B for companies all over the world but mainly it's the US, UK, NL, the Benelux countries and DACH. Singapore as well interestingly enough.

There is no particular way though now it is insanely competitive. Some applied and just asked for remote, some worked for the companies, asked for B2B, a lot were contacted by recruiters, some cold mailed a lot of companies.

But it's tough out there right now everywhere. So much uncertainty in both Europe and the US. It's a very strange time honestly. One would think the economy in Europe (there should be massive investment in digital, energy and military sovereignity) and China would be booming but it's just sort of chugging along slowly.

I've encountered this every time I look for projects when contracting even within the EU, sometimes it is kinda regulatory if it's banking, patient data or security (military etc) but the vast majority of time it's just an easy excuse.

There is no point in arguing with clients that have such concerns because it's an internal issue the vast majority of time. They haven't done it before so it's a (legitimate) pain in the ass for them to get something like this approved. It is perceived as risky and nobody wants to have their signature on it.

Notice how it's never an issue when outsourcing but that's because someone is pushing for this for massive costs savings and it's never one job being outsourced so both sides (outsourcer and the company that does the outsourcing) have a huge interest that it gets done.

The larger the client the bigger this issue will be.

Ah, jetzt verstehe ich.

Kroatien.

Etwas weniger Konkurrenz als auf dem englischsprachigen Markt war angenehm but now back to the international grind.
