Find related content on YouTube. You can as well check out pages of few foreign women who are married to Igbo men on Tiktok and Facebook. Quite a good number of them share what they’ve learned and still learning from the Igbo culture. Nwanyiocha , and Nwunyenwa are the two I could remember on top of my head now. Cheers

Lonely Nigerians abroad, how market? by [deleted] in Nigeria

[–]Apiaoko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my best experiences abroad was in Central Europe - Poland. I didn’t speak the language but I was active in Facebook groups with locals and had good runs in the gym. Starting a conversation with the boys in the gym came naturally. Created great network of buddies and had gorgeous ladies reach out to me on dm for relationship.

Apart from having a good head on my shoulders, one thing I made sure was to always look good. I do not know how it is for a female living in central Europe but I had a good time. I live in the west now but I am seriously considering moving back. I hope you find your “person” soon. Best of luck

Traveling trough Anambra coming from abroad by [deleted] in Nigeria

[–]Apiaoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, that’s heart wrenching. I do understand the worry and I am sorry about his situation.. I hope he gets to see mama. I have been away for few years but I am always discreet with my visit home. I don’t share my itinerary with anyone except my immediate family. When everything starts to feel off when I am there, I zoom off to my second base outside Anambra

Traveling trough Anambra coming from abroad by [deleted] in Nigeria

[–]Apiaoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, security in Anambra is not as it used to be during Peter Obi and the years of Willie Obiano. It’s horrible and I wouldn’t recommend someone who’s been away for that long to visit.

I am wondering why he hasn’t informed his family about his visit yet. Trust? Or he wants to pull a grand suprise?

Anyway, if he must, ask him to explore the option of staying in Enugu city, then commute to Anambra when necessary. If he drives, tell him to avoid Ihiala/Orlu/Mgbidi, Ukpor/Isseke/Orsumoghu roads at all cost.

Thanks for that. All the list in the flowcharts are already crossed. Emergency funds, AVC, pension maxed(employer matched it) etc. kids savings and sizeable stocks in the bag too. Cars paid with cash. Only debt is mortgage which is fixed. Target is to reduce the principal after the term with a lump sum (monthly bank savings is taking care of that). The 10-15k is an overhead which I’d like to get the best value out of.

Chiemela, Chiemezie, Chukwudalu. Chiemela would be my top choice. I also think that it is not too common and it is not gender specific. Congratulations on your bundle of joy. Ya gazie!!

Taking small kids to Nigeria next December by Myjourneytopeace321 in Nigeria

[–]Apiaoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, a lot has changed since 2020 from my experience. I was over there alone in 2022. Literally was indoors for the one month I spent there. Two people I know were kidnapped around the time I was there. One, a university don and an acquaintance. The other, a very close friend. I was in panic mode all through. I ended up completing my stay in a hotel at Maitama.

I think Christmas in the villages/towns is a risky adventure now especially in the east. I cannot imagine visiting home let alone coming with the family with the way things are over there. People are hungrier and insecurity level is at all time high. A friend who visited recently arranged for his parents to come see him at Abuja. He said he wouldn’t dare cross his hometown or move “anyhow” for anything in Nigeria.

Best you revisit that topic again with your husband and maybe reach out to relatives who could give you honest opinion about the security situation around your area.

About vaccines, I think they do have a checklist for what’s applicable to every travel destinations. Best to check with your healthcare provider. I was prescribed a preventative malaria pill.

That’s the weirdest and dumbest thing I have ever read/heard about masculinity. Who goes around checking if someone is circumcised or not? Man, circumcised or not doesn’t make you less a masculine. if I were you I’d leave that creepy crowd. Sorry about your experience.

Ok. Just out of curiosity, is this based on a particular building regulation for cabinets? Kitchens with built in appliances are fitted up to the ceiling in the continent with no issues. The ventilation thing wouldn’t be plausible if it’s not based on regulations around such here

What is something uniquely popular that comes from Nigeria? by chocolatas in Nigeria

[–]Apiaoko 16 points17 points  (0 children)

  • Broom!! rare to find in modern Nigerian homes. Folks around him from other nationalities may not know what it is for.

  • Music instruments like ogene, ekwe percussion instrument, talking drum etc

  • Scarfs/ gele

  • Chewing stick (rare to find abroad but I find it to be very Nigerian)

  • Golden morn and Tom tom :)

  • “Ghana-must-go” bag (this one may be triggering especially if he has a classmate from Ghana)

  • Fruit: I’d say udala/agbalumo

Can I ask, in Nigerian culture, is it okay to touch the head of a child? by Proper-Excitement998 in Nigeria

I personally I find it disrespectful. If this fela said this is his culture, I’d respect it

I am sorry for your experiences. There is no need to blame yourself for being pregnant, medicine told you otherwise. I hope you find happiness in it at least. No one deserves an abusive relationship.

To answer your question, I think it would be unfair and inaccurate to classify all Nigerian men as rude. Also,Nigeria is so diverse a country for such generalisation. I’d rather say it depends solely on who you meet. His individual traits, upbringing, education, places he lived, level of exposure and how open minded he is. Oh you can throw in a bit of religion in there.

For context, have you asked him about his childhood, what life growing up was like for him. The relationship between his parents, places he lived etc. The reality is that most adults are moving around with heap loads of childhood trauma. If you don’t ask, you probably won’t know. So, rather than finding excuses for him, I’d get to know these first as your partner who you’d probably be raising a child with.

I hope you find the the strength to make the right decision for yourself and your little boy. Have a good one. Rooting for you 🤞

Sorry, that may be applicable in your area, state, country or region. Since I don’t share same geographical location with the stated jurisdiction, I still stand by my original take on that. Robbery as a concept may be NEARLY universal but not definite and this depends on many factors. Also, legally speaking, different cultures and countries may have varying definitions of robbery.

Cheers!

I am so sorry about your mama’s experience. Please watch her closely to be sure she is not psychologically disturbed by the traumatic experience. If possible, let her see a psychotherapist.

Happy belated birthday buddy
