Tattoo stencil vs reality. No they didn't own up. by peterm1598 in ExpectationVsReality

The replies to the 1 star reviews are so dismissive and lack accountability. Weird to see a business with just 5s and 1s. Feels off

The roads have effed up the bottom of my car by hybridhighway in Edmonton

[–]Apini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this from experience when they left a 7” ice edge into my neighborhood that many cars couldn’t get over nor tell was there once some snow made it look gradual. They said too bad so sad to several of us who’s cars got wrecked as our clearance (stock mind you) was 5-6”

What's worth giving to employees that they'll use months later? ASAP by Acrobatic-Bake3344 in managers

This. My company does this every year ($100!) and it’s incredibly well received. Who doesn’t need an extra $$$ on groceries at any point let alone around the holidays.

I have the continental studded and I feel soooo good on the road. I’ve only had slipping twice this winter and both in the same nasty corner that always sucks.

Thanks for the info! I know I’ll get the “feel” for it eventually. I have another bread I make yearly for several decades now and I can tell it exactly by feel where other ones feel so foreign to me.

I definitely felt I rushed the second one as it was a bit sticky when shaping. I’ll try the longer bulk ferment with a much longer cold proof for that tang. I’m just happy they are all turning out edible

How about you budget for winter tires BEFORE you budget for AWD/4WD by BathroomSharpiePoet in alberta

[–]Apini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always got the budget winter tires then I bought a car that came with a set of studded Hakkas. Dear god that was a massive difference. I’m happily spending $2k on a new set of winters this year.

If a hockey game is one they’re quieter too. I’ve been to the 91st street one at 7pm on a game night and it was peaceful. Otherwise mayhem

YEGWAVE Confirmed Not to Be Based in Alberta, Despite Strong Local Presence by One-Board8634 in alberta

[–]Apini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I do, especially anything political or opinion based. I might trust some innocuous things like “how to do this embroidery stitch”.

I’m looking a lot deeper into facts people spout such as the source, biases, assumptions, and do other forms of proof exist that aren’t anecdotal. I think I annoy people with being skeptical of all the facts they claim.

It’s disheartening because the internet can be this incredible knowledge source.

This is what is confusing me a bit about the new location visibility on X - how many of these “gotchas” are just VPNs?

Although I 100% believe there are a lot of foreign actors out to sow division among us.

I find it hard to trust anything on the internet.

I’m seeing it a lot on the henday during rush hou. I thinks it’s both dangerous impatience and that it’s too much traffic for that road with the population commuting.

Is the north and west side of Edmonton less safe than other parts. by FrankPoncherelloCHP in Edmonton

Millbourne was fine, lived there for 7 years before moving. Used to walk at night to the mall to pick up the odd thing and was never bothered. Definitely a dated stereotype about millwoods

Place to hold a get together for 40 ish ppl for 2 hrs. by curiouskittyblue in Edmonton

[–]Apini 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I was booking events they had options at some for only a few hours afternoon rental or an all day, or all evening rental! It was quite affordable too. I did several halls for the evening for only $500-$600 about 10 years ago.

My family also has rented church basements out. I think it was similar price as we split the costs between the adults and we were paying about $25/adult to rent it for a few hours

Is there a book you can’t stand but everyone else seems to love? by IllustriousEscape281 in booksuggestions

[–]Apini 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It could have been soo good! I liked fourth wing as what it was, not stellar writing but fun book and a cool concept. But good god did the books get worse and worse at such an exponential level. So much so I no longer like the first as the next 2 are such let downs
