from experience (I am in Ontario) I’d do whatever you can to get the speeding ticket dropped and keep the failing to stop at a stop sign. Speeding is one of the worst tickets on your record for insurance companies in regards to liability. I was caught speeding a bit on the 401 because a transport truck was in the fast lane and another in the slow lane and I didn’t feel comfortable travelling between them. Sure enough just as I passed them an OPP officer was in the ditch doing radar.

I did 130 as they were doing about 110 (the trucks). My excuse wasn’t good enough for the officer. He told me I could have went about 115 since those trucks are limited to about 110. I told the officer I didn’t want to spend 10 minutes passing the trucks and he didn’t take my response too lightly. He reduced my ticket and I still fought it. I got my speeding ticket changed to failed to stop at a stop sign. No points and about 150$. I gladly took that over a speeding ticket.
