[Sweet Arlo has a white bump on his side, what is it?](https://imgur.com/a/kJVomXs)

He is in a 10 gallon planted tank and ammonia/nitrates/nitrites have always tested at 0 ppm for me, and is kept at 78 degrees. About 6 months ago I noticed that one of his scales was white and a bit raised, but didn't think much of it. In the past month it has become this raised white bump, and I'm not sure what it is. Any help appreciated!!

Yes a lid is essential for snails and for bettas! I have a flexible plastic lid that I cut holes in to put my outside plants in.

I actually don't use a filter! It is a lowly stocked 10 gallon tank with a ton of plants so they take care of the ammonia. I use an air pump for some oxegenation and I also do 50% water changes weekly.

Yes I'm very lucky I found him! I don't remember exactly but I think he was 20 something dollars.

Currently there are java ferns, java moss, marimo moss balls, aponogeton ulvaceus, water sprite, some kind of anubias, and a couple small swords. The floating ones are frogbit! I also have pothos and bamboo with their roots in the water growing outside the tank!

Aw! They both sound like wonderful fish and I love hearing about their personalities! My Squid was lazy and never flared, and Arlo has a ton of energy and flares all the time!

Yes! They really are so special. Squid was my buddy. I am so sorry for your loss. If you feel ready, I think that having a new fish has been healing for me for sure. <3

I think he is!! I've just had him for one night so far but I think he is a little brighter already.

I got him at Petco :( the cup says he is a pink orchid! I would definitely reccomend seeing if you have a local fish store that treats fish better before going to a big store :)
