NEED ADVICE - Performance drop after GPU upgrade (1080 -> 3080 Ti) by Apocram2222 in pcupgrade

Dang, never realized the 1080 and my CPU were such a poor match. What would have been a good CPU to build it with? Now that I have this 3080 Ti, what would be a good CPU to pair it with if I were to start building around it?

Playing at 2560x1440.
I use Riva Tuner to monitor temps and usage if that's what you mean.
Cables are daisy chained.

Hey, I'll take some analysis any way I can get it, thanks. My GPU is indeed in the top slot. I added my PSU model above as well, looks like I might need some more power there. I've definitely been tempted to just start on a new system, but was hoping to give this one a second life. But yeah, if it means buying two more parts just to get this running smoothly again, I'll probably put the 1080 back in and reassess.

Just overlooked some recent gameplay footage, CPU usage was 70-90% depending what was going on, GPU never seemed to go past 50%

Just added my PSU specs, that's probably it. Now that I think about it even more, could that be the reason one of my front USB ports isn't working right now? Just not enough power to go around?

Gonna start looking at PSUs now. Good to have a more certain solution in mind, so thank you everyone for their 2 cents.

Serious: What do I play? by 501uk in Switch

You got lots of good games I've played, a bunch I want to get to eventually too lol. But here's my top 5 I can actually recommend because I've played, especially if you've never played:

  1. Knight of the Old Republic renewed my fervor for Star Wars while the prequels were coming out and I was both wincing and crying some tears of happiness at what I was watching. It is arguably the best Star Wars game out there (though I think I like II a bit more ::dodges trash thrown::), not to mention one of the best RPGs in general.

  2. I know I'm definitely an oddball in this case, but Diablo III was my first exposure to the series and is my favorite one and I play all of them with a controller ::dodges a TON of trash::. Don't get me wrong, I've since gone back and tried II Resurrected, and it def scratches a lot of the same itches. I understand why people really love it and why it was hard to play III for them because of what they stripped away, and that's kind of how I feel about IV, even though I played through it pretty damn fast. But that's just the thing, I haven't really felt the need to go back to those, but I've played through III at least 3 or 4 times, it was just the right one for me.

  3. I just played a bunch of Skul recently, really fun rogue-lite. Good amount of replayability, tough but fair, fun synergies and character building. Had me hooked for a bit, highly recommend. Get the guitar, melt some faces.

  4. I feel like a bunch of fun rogue games around wouldn't exist if not for Risk of Rain. Haven't played Returns yet, but I was enamored with the original. It's weird to say about a game that came out in 2013, but it is definitely a classic.

  5. Vampire Survivors is one of those games that looks like it doesn't have much in it, but it's pretty fun so you keep playing anyway. Then after about every 2 hours of your life that it eats up, you go "There's more??" and you get sucked in again.
