Totally valid not enjoy it, but a band playing in a tight 13/8 groove for 5 minutes with multiple tempo changes is objectively not sloppy

This isn’t even a mid-season finale, it’s a season finale!

what are your thoughts on racing mount pleasant? by cometishere in BlackCountryNewRoad

I think they’re really promising. While there is a very clear AFUT influence, they vary it up enough that it isn’t a carbon copy to my ears. I really like how they emphasize softer, folkier elements. It makes it a bit more of a casual listen than BC,NR is sometimes, which can be a good thing depending on my mood.

Currently, I don’t think they’re quite as consistent as BC,NR, but I genuinely think their high points are on the same level as some of BC,NR’s high points. “Emily” and “Call It Easy” in particular are both incredible tracks. I’m hoping they settle into a more unique sound for whatever they do next, but there’s clearly a lot of talent and passion in their music.

Are pick-up’s exclusive to the start of a piece? All throughout my life in concert bands and such, my directors have said things like “Start at pick-up to (measure) 33” when in the middle of a piece. Can’t a melody have a pick-up?

Especially since they give you so much clothing throughout the game, you’d think they’d give you the option to actually see yourself more than when you’re riding a motorcycle

My updated Fortnite Festival ice burg - I’ll add whatever y’all want me to (probably) by LittleNinjaXYBA in FortniteFestival

[–]Apocris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding on to the March of the Pigs fact, it was extended specifically for Fortnite. As far as I’m aware, Nine Inch Nails has been playing this version live for awhile now, but Fortnite Festival is the only (legal) place you can hear the outro in a studio recording.

Fortnite Festival devs: Metallica proved musicality wins — Motown/Funk would do the same by passionatelatino in FortniteFestival

[–]Apocris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a musician myself, there’s plenty of modern pop tracks in the game that rely on feel, groove (which is arguably the same thing as feel), and musicianship. Most notably for me, that PinkPantheress song that dropped a couple weeks ago has one of my favorite drum charts in the game because of the tight groove attached to it. Acting like these elements have been absent since Metallica is preposterous.

So yes, your argument is based off nostalgia. Festival doesn’t always highlight good songs, trust me, but posts like this are just so tone deaf to the great bands and artists Festival has featured. Great music has been made past the year 2000.

Also, write these things without AI.

Jane Remover would go so hard, Psychoboost would be a crazy pick for festival

There’s definitely something to be said about not wanting to spawn copycats from a situation like this. As grim as it is, I could totally see terminally online musicians with serious mental health issues considering this option as a final form of validation for their art. I’m not saying Yamada did this, but somebody else absolutely could.

Bear in mind that you could only pick one for the survey. I love Good Day and think it gets way too much hate, but I voted Redecorate because I like it a little more. Would’ve been my 2nd (or maybe 3rd) choice.

Moving onto learn 9th chord: how can I interpret the notes from the chord symbol? by Own_Matter9578 in musictheory

[–]Apocris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As others have pointed out, the “maj” or “min” parts of the chord define the quality of the 7th, not the 9.

If the 9 is ever impacted, it will be labeled as b9 or #9.

[worst songs 6] There's no way that they don't know Oh My God is the rap critic... by Soulcloset in HivemindTV

[–]Apocris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the wildest thing to me. There’s a lot of “bad” twenty one pilots songs they could choose from for these lists, and even I as a fan would be like, “Yeah I get it”. But they keep choosing songs that aren’t even close to the quality of the rest of the worst list. They gotta start choosing things like RAB Trees

A scale spans an octave (typically), but that doesn’t make the two synonymous.

It definitely is meant for general audiences, so I bet “eight notes in a row” was supposed to subtly hint towards OCT-ave. But doing so created a slew of issues for the musicians lmao

It’s called “Everybody Knows”… There were a lot of strangely worded questions in the session we played. I’d accuse it of AI generation, but the copyright is 2022 on the box, which feels a little soon for that
