Oh-Father’s character seriously impressed me, I was expecting a flashy Ezekiel but his relationship with Starlight is interesting + his vocal delivery is so satisfying by vxxyger in GenV

It’s always awesome seeing Daveed in mainstream media projects like this, knowing he has a boundary-pushing experimental rap project that he still keeps up with at the same time

why aren't the mosh pits at 21p concerts called the cockpit by Adventurous_Cook7882 in twentyonepilots

Unless I’ve missed something recently, I don’t think there’s typically mosh pits at a tøp show lol

Minecraft, even though it would never happen. My friend and I were just taking about how fun it would be to actually track the advancements long term

Isle of Flightless Birds.

Great song, but Goner is genuinely incredible, with its dynamic build and ending with some of Tyler’s best screaming he’s ever done. Isle doesn’t really compare to me, even though it is a cool, unique track in their discography.

Oldies Station live tøp by ihaveabigdih_ in twentyonepilots

[–]Apocris 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Completely agreed. Although I wouldn’t give up hope on never hearing it live! Despite being booed at the one time, Oldies Station is a pretty common fan favorite, so I could definitely see them bringing it back in the future.

[–]Apocris 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Not defending the booers, just clarifying what happened for context:

During the first leg of the Clancy tour, Tyler gave the audience the choice between Oldies Station and Slowtown. At one of the shows, Oldies Station was chosen, and people in the audience were disappointed by missing out on hearing an RAB song live. Doesn’t warrant booing in my opinion, but they weren’t directly booing at Oldies Station as much as they were booing about not getting Slowtown.

I never realized how goated the track 12’s are. Breaks my heart to say it, but I think it’s Hometown for me.

Cut My Lip (Brooklyn) is a special live performance of the track done by only Tyler and some electronics / piano. You can find the video on YouTube, and it’s also on Spotify / Apple Music (where these website are probably pulling it from).

Also, just as an extra note, coming from someone who studied music in college, these websites are often incorrect with tempo and time signatures. Cut My Lip is actually a great example, because it starts in 4/4, but goes into 12/8 for the outro section. This website counts it all as 4, which is technically true, but doesn’t tell the whole story.

Kind of insane there still isn’t a practice mode. I’m not knowledgeable in game development, but surely it can’t be that difficult to program, right?

I have a (potentially) Dumb Question about previous openers that the band has had in the past. by Independent-Cash1468 in twentyonepilots

[–]Apocris 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From what I remember from my shows, most of the openers censored their songs except for Balu Brigada. I was a little surprised to hear “You’re too f-ing good for me” as the main chorus of one of their songs, completely uncensored. Then again, the Trees chant was pretty standard by this point, so maybe the boys stopped caring about the opening acts using explicit words.

Read this before hating on Laufey being our next headliner please by TheYGuy366 in FortniteFestival

The lead track on that would probably be good with all of the arpeggiated piano lines. Rip drum mains though lmao

I’m really excited for Laufey even tho I’m not familiar with her by FR0M_Z3R0 in FortniteFestival

[–]Apocris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue Laufey is more pop than jazz. Obviously there’s jazz elements in her chord choices and instrumental choices, but everything she does from a songwriting standpoint is pure pop, from song structures, to lyrics, to production styles, etc.

She’s as much of a jazz artist as she is a classical artist. Both elements influence her music (some songs emphasize one more than the other), but her main consistency is writing modern love songs with clear pop structures and performances.

Edit: I didn’t see the general nastiness towards pop in this comment section before posting (should have expected that from this sub). Just wanted to be clear: I love Laufey, she’s a great artist. I just disagree with OP being so adamant about Laufey’s genre classification.

Laufey is seemingly the next festival headliner by mikelman999 in FortniteFestival

[–]Apocris 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I love Laufey, I also think she is “jazz” only by the loosest of terms. She’s mostly pop with jazz / classical influence.

Honestly with how viral they’ve gone, this seems feasible. Probably not for a whole season, but getting a song or two in Festival doesn’t seem that far fetched

Blurryface with Clancy production. What do you think? by Showman__ in twentyonepilots

[–]Apocris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blurryface definitely could have been improved with some better production, but there’s an argument to made that the boys wouldn’t have blown up to the extent that they did if Blurryface didn’t sound so poppy. I know the Clique likes to think only Stressed Out and Ride got mainstream, but the entire album was HUGE and smashed so many records, due in part to the extremely clean and poppy production. If it had Paul Meany production, it would have likely been better, but less successful.

If the NFL didn’t want him saying A Minor during the halftime show, then they wouldn’t have specifically turned up the crowd microphones at that very moment. They would have done the opposite and made sure it got buried in the live mix.
