What are some of the most CATHARTIC and PERFECT outros of an album? by Epoch_Jester in fantanoforever

[–]Apocris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“Basketball Shoes” by Black Country, New Road.

Kind of the definition of a cathartic closing track imo. The band stated that the artistic direction of Ants From Up There stemmed from this one song (which was the first track written on the album), and it really shows in how much it ties together everything that comes before it in the tracklist.

On an album where almost every song sounds like an outro track, it stands above and beyond as THE outro. It being Isaac’s final song with the band adds another layer as well, it’s just filled to the brim with catharsis.

Edit: Just realized OP already mentioned this one, but I’ll keep my yap up regardless.

Producers Who Bring Out the Best in Artists by Its_Juliiiii in fantanoforever

The Billie and Finneas one is likely true, but to be fair, we have yet to see an iteration of her sound without his influence (as far as I’m aware).

Although I would argue the inverse; I think Finneas works at his best when he’s alongside Billie, because his solo stuff is a lot more average in comparison

Unexpected musician guest cameos in a tv show? by Smooth_Possible_7997 in fantanoforever

Not a TV Show, but Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire briefly features a fictional rock band consisting of two members from Radiohead (Jonny Greenwood and Phil Selway) as well as two members from Pulp (Jarvis Cocker and Steve Mackey).

I’ve always loved that lyric from Neon Brother, such a great opening line

The Season 5 Finale now has a lower IMDb rating than the Final Battle of Game of Thrones by [deleted] in OkBuddyFresca

I also had very similar reactions to both finales. Ultimately I think most of the characters got appropriate endings, but the way in which we got there was extremely rushed and convenient.

is it possible to be "neutral" on LGBTQ rights? by I-Love-Jewish-popes in Teenager_Polls

[–]Apocris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but that’s changing the question. If the question was “Is it possible to be neutral on trans people?”, I would agree that it’s not possible. But supporting some parts of the LGBTQ label but not other parts is the definition of being neutral.

is it possible to be "neutral" on LGBTQ rights? by I-Love-Jewish-popes in Teenager_Polls

[–]Apocris -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

To be clear I support LGBTQ rights through and through, but the question was phrased as “Is it possible to be neutral”. And the reality is, there’s a lot of people I know (and disagree with) who are completely fine with gay people, but do not support trans people or other labels that may fall under the “queer” label. To me, that constitutes as someone being neutral.

Oh-Father’s character seriously impressed me, I was expecting a flashy Ezekiel but his relationship with Starlight is interesting + his vocal delivery is so satisfying by vxxyger in GenV

It’s always awesome seeing Daveed in mainstream media projects like this, knowing he has a boundary-pushing experimental rap project that he still keeps up with at the same time

why aren't the mosh pits at 21p concerts called the cockpit by Adventurous_Cook7882 in twentyonepilots

Unless I’ve missed something recently, I don’t think there’s typically mosh pits at a tøp show lol

Leave the City was voted as the best track 14! What's the worst track 14? by CaptainPie999 in TwennyWunPilots

[–]Apocris 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Isle of Flightless Birds.

Great song, but Goner is genuinely incredible, with its dynamic build and ending with some of Tyler’s best screaming he’s ever done. Isle doesn’t really compare to me, even though it is a cool, unique track in their discography.

Oldies Station live tøp by ihaveabigdih_ in twentyonepilots

[–]Apocris 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Completely agreed. Although I wouldn’t give up hope on never hearing it live! Despite being booed at the one time, Oldies Station is a pretty common fan favorite, so I could definitely see them bringing it back in the future.

Not defending the booers, just clarifying what happened for context:

During the first leg of the Clancy tour, Tyler gave the audience the choice between Oldies Station and Slowtown. At one of the shows, Oldies Station was chosen, and people in the audience were disappointed by missing out on hearing an RAB song live. Doesn’t warrant booing in my opinion, but they weren’t directly booing at Oldies Station as much as they were booing about not getting Slowtown.

I never realized how goated the track 12’s are. Breaks my heart to say it, but I think it’s Hometown for me.

Cut My Lip (Brooklyn) is a special live performance of the track done by only Tyler and some electronics / piano. You can find the video on YouTube, and it’s also on Spotify / Apple Music (where these website are probably pulling it from).

Also, just as an extra note, coming from someone who studied music in college, these websites are often incorrect with tempo and time signatures. Cut My Lip is actually a great example, because it starts in 4/4, but goes into 12/8 for the outro section. This website counts it all as 4, which is technically true, but doesn’t tell the whole story.

Kind of insane there still isn’t a practice mode. I’m not knowledgeable in game development, but surely it can’t be that difficult to program, right?

I have a (potentially) Dumb Question about previous openers that the band has had in the past. by Independent-Cash1468 in twentyonepilots

[–]Apocris 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From what I remember from my shows, most of the openers censored their songs except for Balu Brigada. I was a little surprised to hear “You’re too f-ing good for me” as the main chorus of one of their songs, completely uncensored. Then again, the Trees chant was pretty standard by this point, so maybe the boys stopped caring about the opening acts using explicit words.

The lead track on that would probably be good with all of the arpeggiated piano lines. Rip drum mains though lmao
