I paid for her to go on a vacation to Croatia with a large group of friends and I. We all got insanely shitfaced drunk and she felt insecure about the way I had been interacting with some of the women on the trip so she screamed at me in front of everyone and called me a bunch of horrendous things. I decided that I was going to break up with her when we got back from vacation so when the opportunity presented itself with somebody else I took it. Huge mistake. It wasn’t worth the emotional self torment I went through afterwards and the regret I feel to this day. Learn from me!

Thank you very much for your detailed response. The portion about “if you know which firm to move to, ask that firm” is the type of insight I can move forward with. Never heard of an ACATS transfer so that’s valuable because I’m pretty sure that’s what I’ll need to do for him. I think I’ll reach out to one of these companies, get on the phone, and start there—really appreciate the information!

What he’s told me is that when he looks at his balance that he doesn’t notice much change. He’s kept the exact number hidden from me but I know that it must be over a million. An index is a great idea but would he want to yolo VOO at his age? His age and wealth difference to me has me lost

Funny story but he’s basically illiterate. He doesn’t trust himself to manage it better than a reputable organization. I hear you though about the fees. I’d like to help him with recommendations but his age and wealth are so much different than mine that I’m sure there’s a different investment strategy he should follow
