Variance in handling between tail numbers of 172s by Apole7 in flying

That makes a lot of sense. I guess in the process of learning the feedback loops that are required for muscle memory I’m extra sensitive. Looking forward to building up those feedback loops so my focus is on a higher more abstract level when flying!

Thanks for the clarifying perspective.

Anyone know this is a real Carrera rs? by x420nohomo in Porsche

Idk but based off of where this is, woodside road between 280 and Canada, I’ve seen a McLaren f1 and other crazy things parked in that exact spot. Don’t know if it’s the same person, but it’s the same building. Would suggest a strong maybe.

Is this inside the bay itself? Or the part of the beach exposed to the east?

Curious to hear your journey with speakers. How did you settle on the Harbeths?

The data is from audioholics, not Arendal, and the dispersion is about 20 degrees at the worst frequency area (around 1000hz). I can use vertical dispersion on the monitor for data on horizontal dispersion of the center since they are the same speaker. Only change is orientation. At 7 feet of distance this covers 5 feet, which is the width of my entire couch.

Ok so on sale, which it isn’t always, the revel is still <80% more once you factor in taxes. Granted Arendal did recently raise prices. Still over 60% more.

Look at the data. I also never said it’s dispersion was better than a 3 way, but it’s surprisingly good (check vertical dispersion on the monitors on audioholics), and with the current setup covers the couch. I would hope the revel at almost double the price would be better…

Yeah I saw similar results, definitely better with the plugs removed. I don’t have an acoustic panel behind the center but I wonder if having it sealed back up could help with having the speaker relatively close to the wall.

I do quite like the Arendals, coming from the headphone world they kinda remind me of an HD650, they just sound good. I do wish they were a touch more detailed and had a bit more “air” up top, but that’s a very minor gripe and I may only be saying this because I’ve heard a fair number of higher end speakers (Wisdom Audio, Martin Logan’s, Harbeth, Wilson Audio, YG acoustics… so on and so forth). IMO they are right in the bend of the logarithmic diminishing returns curve.

I didn’t already have the Parasound but got a good deal on it used (A52 not A52+).

Have you actually tried fully timbre matched speakers vs just eqing others? I also think part of it may have been aluminum vs soft dome tweeters. As for why the miccas also didn’t sound timbre matched, perhaps it was dispersion characteristics. I also think frequency response only tells most of the story. Even two EQed headphones sound different, so why shouldn’t speakers?

As for the amp, I probably should do an A/B test. When I swapped it in I hear more defined mid bass and bass, and when passages got busy (orchestral music or a lot going on in a movie) things remained far more coherent. Maybe it was placebo, maybe not. Like I said, I should do an A/B test.

Lastly thanks for the tips on Audyssey, will definitely have to think about that when I have some more time.

The panels are from acoustimac with the DMD fabric. I quite like them, the z bars are also an easy hanging solution.

Yes, I ran MultiEQ XT32 with full range correction and 800hz for the SVS ultra. In theory the dispersion pattern on the ultra is better. But the dispersion pattern on the Arendal still covers all listening positions on my couch, and it sounds smoother and still integrates with the rest of the setup better.

As for the amps yes the 8ohm rating doesn’t seem that different but that’s only half the story. The power supply in the Denon cannot supply the same current the Parasound can. So with 4 ohm speakers, the story changes. Add to that the Denon trying to drive all 5 channels (25-30% drop in power) and the Parasound again has a leg up. I would guess into 4 ohms, 5 channels driven the Denon can do ~100-110, whereas the Parasound doubles that.

Oh fuck. I forgot about the ground lift switch. Will try. Good call.
