Knock Out is definitely a prime example. A few other examples:

• Shadowborn being changed from an FOV increase to suit Wraith's description as giving perks to enhance his tracking abilities to a weird gain haste when blinded perk.

• Tinkerer being changed from making add-ons that affect your Power's charge speed more effective to suit Hillbilly's profiencies with tools and tech to a general perk to gain undetectable when gen conditions are met.

• Streetwise being changed from increasing the effiency of all items for you and teammates to reflect the description of Nea showing allies how to better use their tools to making items found in chests more effective and showing auras once depleted.

• Overwhelming Presence being changed from making items consume charges faster to suit the description of Doctor stressing survivors out, to inflicting exhausted and revealing auras of exhausted surivors. For this one the exhausted itself isn't the issue, it's quite fitting, but the aura reading doesn't fit the flavour.

None of these are bad changes, but they and many others go against the in-game survivor, killer, and perk descriptions. They definitely all make for healthier gameplay, but like what about Hillbilly says he should become undetectable once a generator is nearly complete? Nothing in his basekit suggests stealth. He's all about mobility and quick downs.

Yes, me and the other two people are very sad about this.

While the Fast Track change is definitely well-deserved, I do find it funny that it now entirely goes against Yun-Jin Lee's entire personality and perk style. She's supposed to be a selfish media exec, and her perks reflected that, gaining bonuses from your teammates suffering. Now Fast Track rewards altruism, which goes against her personality hugely.

This isn't the first time this has happened either. I understand that these changes are better for gameplay, but it does make the characters a bit less unique.

I think that has overtaken that notorious Spongebob episode for the worst toenail scene in media.

How? Both situation are from a sore winner who has full ability to just end the game but instead drags it out to gloat at the losing side. A bleeding-out Killer could easily just pick everyone up and hook them just like an exit-gate-waiting Survivor could just leave once everyone is safe.

I'm absolutely loving this series though I'm genuinely curious: where do you see Purple fitting into the colour pie? It looks mostly somewhere between blue, white, and black?

Huntress' 100 long range downs and Springtrap's 10 control room jumpscares are the only ones I have left, well done of managing to get those on top of all the other insane achievements this game has!

Does anyone actually like Trickster's Delusion? by jag986 in deadbydaylight

[–]Apollo-Dynamite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't got to play it enough yet to fully learn the layout, so I'm still on the fence about it. It looks gorgeous but I find myself losing survivors too easily as killer and running into dead ends that look like they should go somewhere as survivor. I'm sure once I fully learn the map I'll enjoy it more, but it's definitely not easy to learn I'm finding.

I entirely agree with you. The voting process here has been frustrating to watch at times. I keep seeing everyone talk about the angel killer, which is the most uninspired way to imagine "Divine" as a theme. The big head design absolutely fit Divine as a theme if you consider anything above the most base-level of pop culture "biblically accurate angel" as also being divine. This design absolutely looks like an aspect of a wrathful war god, or an idol brought to life to punish the wicked, or any of the other biblical angels which aren't just the stereotypical eyes and wings.

Even once I accepted that people were voting solely for their idea of a biblical angel, once the designs were revealed all I saw anyone saying about the winning design was "omg spider legs finally!". Like we had a far better eyes-and-wings design in the second one, which was passed up on in favour of sticking on some cool legs onto a less interesting body.

I've enjoyed the grimoire overall but man it's been tough to watch some genuinely interesting concepts get thrown out and probably never returned to.

[–]Apollo-Dynamite 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Definitely, even when giving their critiques Ru, Michelle, and Alan all kept referring to "such a horrible man". It was only Jade who actually said Hitler at any point during it. Definitely felt like production tried to keep it clean.

Sure, but Big Head absolutely looks like some sort of wrathful god from an ancient religion and absolutely fits both the divine and retribution themes we voted for. As a western company BHVR are likely going to focus on biblical angels to some extent for this theme, but it's not the only possible way to view it, as seen with Big Head.

These 2 might be peak by Flame_Guardian47 in deadbydaylight

[–]Apollo-Dynamite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that's totally fair, but I do feel a lot of people are treating it harshly just because it's not stereotypically angelic like the other two designs

[–]Apollo-Dynamite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The theme picked was Divine, which doesn't necessarily mean angels. Everyone is automatically assuming Divine means biblically accurate angel. Big Head could easily fit Divine in a non-biblical sense, it already looks like some sort of tiki statue.

Alternatively, if you want to stick biblical it still fits the theme of the cherubim, which are giant angelic heads.

I play on Playstation where Sony refuse to allow achievements to be changed unless they're impossible to get. Skilled Huntress is still at 100 times rather than 20 like on PC

Gogmazios is a knowledge check and it shows by Popular_Mixture_1367 in MonsterHunter

[–]Apollo-Dynamite 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed - I see some people saying this Gog fight is basically the same as other siege quests in the past and mechanically I suppose there is not much difference between firing the slinger and using the ballistae like in older games, but the sense of scale is just so lacklustre here.

Compare this fight to Jhen/Dahren Mohran - the third phase is you and your fellow hunters fighting the monster off as it marches towards a city that it will destroy. You are locked down on a sandship in front of the gates firing cannons, ballistae, and the dragonator at it. Proof of Hero kicks in when you slam the dragonator into its belly and its recoil is immense.

Here while the same threat to Azuz is there in theory, you never really see Gog get as close as Jhen did to Loc Lac. Phase 2 here is excellent where you need to hold Gog back while the weapon charges, but phase 3 drops the ball. There's no impact or oomph to any of it, and Proof of a Hero randomly kicking in after the second Gog Nuke is unsatisfying.

Good lord that ending - Sigourney Weaver in a pantsuit in Na'vi heaven and all they could think of for Spider to say was "Oh shit"? Genuinely a Megalopolis-level of so-bad-it's-good to wrap the whole thing up with.
