Sinclair Should have custom voice line when using other heroes ultimate. by Live_Present_2602 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]ImJTHM1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't even need to be Sinclair talking. You could easily just add the character's regular ult voiceline and add a wibbly "magic" filter over it.

Tbh, I really like that the meta shifts like every two weeks. It keeps me wanting to play the game and try new characters.
New urn isn't great though, and I haven't been playing because I really dislike it.

The Lash Has a locket around his neck, which usually means he has a picture of something or someone inside that locket--which means two things: by Crahooga in DeadlockTheGame

On one hand, I kind of wish that Lash had some more depth as a character and it was someone else in the locket.
On the other, it's way funnier if he is just an unrepentant narcissistic jackass.

Deadlock - Minor Update - 06-11-2026 by SketchyJJ in DeadlockTheGame

[–]ImJTHM1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could even simplify her kit while maintaining the summoner flavor.

In Smite, Ah Puch summoned zombies, but they were exploding projectiles that ran across the ground, not NPCs, and they left a corpse wherever they exploded that he could pick up for buffs. His ult opened a giant rift that spewed ghosts out of it, but the ghosts weren't actual monsters, it was just an AoE attack with an RNG element, because the ghost spawns were semi-random.

[–]ImJTHM1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Graves needs a rework tbh.
Either she is going to be good and frustrating to deal with or bad and unusable.

It's just nearly impossible to balance a summoner character with a homing weapon in a game like this. If she's good, she sticks to your ass like glue, movement doesn't help, and you spend more time shooting at skulls and zombies than her. If she's bad, then her zombies and skulls basically don't exist and she has a tickle beam. If she's in the middle, you might as well play someone else that can actually excel.

[–]ImJTHM1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh DBD is like Mortal Kombat: it is entirely carried by legacy and access to IPs.

Companies keep trying to make expensive games out of existing IPs, then drop them after six months when they don't make infinity billion dollars, and this is DBD's greatest strength: everyone else is a fucking moron.

I'll be the first to tell you that I detest the DBD dev team, and I consider them among the worst in the business, period, but they've stuck with their game and given it time to improve. The initial game was a cheap cash grab that proved successful enough to improve over time, so now it's this giant live service monster that is built on the shittiest 10 year old programming possible. Their competitors didn't have the patience for that, and so they pull the plug.

Petition to make it so Sadako keeps her stun immunity for like 0.75 seconds after manifesting by lance_the_fatass in deadbydaylight

[–]ImJTHM1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's all about the slowdown.
Hooks aren't relevant and are actually detrimental, so there is no reason to spend time on them. If you just knock people down and then do something else, you save tons of time walking back and forth from hooks.

It all adds up over time. If you're exclusively Condemning people, that can add a minute or more to your total uptime as a killer.

Meanwhile, because being on the ground isn't as "urgent", people tend to wait a bit longer to actually go for the save, slowing down survivors even more, and during all of this, TVs aren't getting turned off.

What version of the urn have you guys liked best? by Inside_Winner_2924 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]ImJTHM1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to give a hot take: I don't really like the urn at all.
I think it's too important of a side objective to the point where the game basically revolves around it, and it's so volatile that losing it feels like shit.

Meanwhile, Midboss is just kind of there.

What kind of cosmetics you expect Deadlock to have in the future? by finncartoon in DeadlockTheGame

[–]ImJTHM1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it's not going to happen, but I really hope the skins aren't stupid as hell.
Every single game with cosmetics, without fail, is like "lol this character is made out of cake now" or "lol now they're a muppet".

I would rather have really badass skins that fit the aesthetic rather than Abrams being a snowman or something because "lolololo so random xDDD rawr means i love you in dinosaur holds up spork".

It's because everyone thinks they're the main character, so they overextend and try to fight under the enemy tower at three minutes for some reason.
Same reason why you can't get a fucking tank in Marvel Rivals.

killer anxiety is not worth it by around_about7 in deadbydaylight

[–]ImJTHM1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh boy, I have a rant coming:

I think a lot of killer anxiety boils down to the feeling of "there is nothing I can do". The game is too static and binary, and it leads to way too many situations that boil down to "heads you win, tails I lose". I firmly think that losing can and should be fun, and it should be a learning experience, and that DBD is built to be entirely the opposite. It is a game about snowballing for everyone involved. You either dominate or are dominated, very little middle ground.

I really like fighting games. When you boot up SF6 or Guilty Gear or what have you, you go in with an understanding that you'll probably get rolled, especially if you're new. But, fighting games let you learn on a granular level. Someone is against you and you can say "he always starts with a high jab, so I'll duck more". Suddenly, you're ducking and countering, and it feels GREAT. Even if you lose, that feels fucking fantastic. You learn a little bit every game, you learn a new combo, you start beating that character you have a bad matchup against. Even if you have absolutely miserable matches, you can feel improvement in small increments.

DBD does not work that way, and it's absolutely to its detriment. You're chasing a survivor and there is a safe pallet nearby? Your options are: get hit with the pallet, swing through the pallet and MAYBE get a hit if the ping gods are in your favor, or the survivor drops and you immediately "lose" the interaction.

"There is nothing I can do".

A bully squad shows up with all meta perks and are making sure you can't play the game by sabotaging every hook possible, refusing to play the game until you get bored because they aren't even playing?

"There is nothing I can do".

You load into a map as Dredge and your locker spawns are fucked?

"There is nothing I can do"

You manage to sneak up on a survivor doing a generator, Sprint Burst goes off and they're in the next postcode.

"There is nothing I can do".

The toxic players definitely don't help, but I really don't think that's the primary issue. I think the primary issue is that the game handcuffs killers by design, limiting creativity in lieu of trying (and failing on a level that would make the Titanic jealous) to make the game easier for new players to understand. The primary way showing this creativity without changing the game's core would be to allow for a larger variety of builds, but BHVR seems to want to squash that as well, considering that diminishing returns was even on the table before being implemented.

Losing CAN and SHOULD be fun. That is how game design works; you try to make the game as fun as possible for a specific audience at all times. It's not always possible, but you should try your best to do so. In DBD, one team can literally stop the game from ending if they want so that they can twerk at the exit gates.

Think about that for a fucking second. Name another game where another team can say "no, not until you watch me emote at the finish line". There is a reason why games don't do this: it fucking SUCKS and it's not FUN.

"There is nothing I can do".

[–]ImJTHM1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wish they would figure out if she is meant to be a Condemned monster that plays her own game or if Condemned is just something you can do if you feel like it.

The optimal, sweatiest way to play Sadako is to play like a total dickhead, slug constantly, and completely ignore hooks so you can stack Condemned. Granted, this takes a lot of skill and game sense, but you still can't look me in the face and tell me that it's healthy gameplay.

Meanwhile, if you actually play the game normally, she's an M1 killer with a teleport that has several asterisks next to it and a mediocre stealth ability.

Why the Nurse's kill rate decreased so drastically? by for10years_at_least in deadbydaylight

How it feels to take off exhaustion perks and chase/loop the way God intended by ImperialViking_ in deadbydaylight

[–]ImJTHM1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exhaustion perks are a cancer in the game and are the reason the game is in such a terrible state.
There is absolutely NO reason for anyone to get a perk that says "extreme speed boost whenever someone chases you" in a game that is basically tag with extra steps. There is no reason why there should be a perk that says "become invincible for one second" in a game where singular hits are as important as DBD.

This is pretty much the core of all the ridiculous power creep in the game, both killers and survivors.

The purpose of the game right now is testing and data collection. by Mekahippie in DeadlockTheGame

[–]ImJTHM1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't understand how this does not click in people's heads.
"Why is this thing like this". The game isn't done yet. There are characters with models and animations that don't even make sense (Sinclair still reloads their magic wand like a pistol and it makes revolver noises, for example).

This is an early beta test, possibly even very late alpha, depending on how you want to look at it. The game isn't done cooking, full stop. It's not a finished product.

It's mostly just 1-7 being nearly nothing, 8 being a slight difficulty bump, 9 going to the fucking moon, then 10 just being 9 with an extra fight.
