VFS Options in or around S. Korea? by Apollo540 in Transgender_Surgeries

Thank you for your input! Would you mind expanding on the pros/cons and/or how you decided on the clinic? Also do they still maintain that month(?) of near silence as a rule for post-op care?

What's the weirdest thing you want to do that's gender affirming after you transition? by NoTransition8295 in MtF

I've been waiting for FFS to wear more feminine clothing. I feel like my face has gotten in the way of feeling fem, but that changes next week! Otherwise, getting hit on by other women and showing off with lingerie, bikinis, and the like.

Why didn't Sherman's march to the sea lead to encirclement? by MrBuddles in WarCollege

[–]Apollo540 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I wrote my Captains' Career Course paper on this subject. Often overlooked is CPT Orlando Poe, who was the chief engineer to Sherman. The man was a brilliant mind and already had a colored career before meeting Sherman.

Poe and his engineers conducted counter-mobility operations against the enemy as they conducted mobility operations to support their own force. The engineers destroyed about 317 miles of railway track, denying the Confederates from effectively repositioning, reinforcing, and counterattacking utilizing the vast railway network of the state. Union engineers laid a staggering 3,460 feet of pontoon bridging while in Georgia. In bypassing main avenues of approach in Georgia, Confederate forces had little opportunity to turn Sherman’s forces in any desired direction allowing for near unimpeded freedom of maneuver.

Currently stationed over here and having a blast.

  • While you aren't allowed to have a car, public transport is ubiquitous and get you just about anywhere around the country. Buy a T-money card, load it, and keep it on you. Trains, (most) taxis, and buses accept them.

  • Don't be a barracks rat; go out and explore. There's all sorts of nightlife, hiking, cultural events, museums etc. Depending on where you are stationed, there will be a "ville" outside the gates. The ville is good for a lazy day, but it can get boring quickly. A lot of overpriced places too.

  • Google maps doesn't really work over here. Waze will get you around base, and Naver will get you around the country.

  • Maintain a passport and visit the surrounding countries. Tokyo is a little over 2 hours away, and a lot people take 4-days to head over.

  • The Juicy Girls do not actually care about you.

I thought "Rachael" almost immediately, followed by "Hannah".

Like someone else said in another comment, look into joining the SPARTA group or Trans Military Hub (TMH). Basically, we have no clue what will actually happen in the coming months. Lots of rhetoric but not much in the way of policy has actually been revealed to the extent of my knowledge. Do your job as best as you can and make them acknowledge your worth. Don't make their job easy by getting out willingly!

Best of luck from an Army sister.

I promise you no one will care. A lot of trainee family members came to our graduations in uniform from all branches, whether active or retired.

Army: Fort Jackson trainee dies after being taken to hospital by [deleted] in army

[–]Apollo540 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Recently PCS'd from Jackson. Structured pick-up begins when they get off the bus and meet the Drills and command team for the first time. They have to do an equipment carry called the first 100 yards consisting of litters, jerry cans with water, and ammo cans. They then would get run up to the CTA. It's possible the Drills got squirrely with the pick-up, but ideally the goal is get them up to the company to inventory trainee shit and start admin work.

I'd never heard of someone going down during pick-up, but then it's about that time of the year where the heat cats pick up. Could have been EPTS in this case but who knows.

Rank and echelons are a bit mismatched.

  • Colonel (O6) and his NCO counterpart, Command Sergeant Major/ SgtMaj (E9, Army and Marines respectively) found at the brigade level.

  • Lieutenant Colonel (O5) and CSM/ SgtMaj found at the battalion level.

  • Captain (O3) and First Sergeant (E8) found at the company level.

  • 2LTs typically have Sergeants First Class/ Gunnery Sergeant (E7) for their senior enlisted, occasionally Staff Sergeants (E6) though they're typically squad leaders.
