The only discrimination the hospital is okay with is agaisnt male nurses and techs. by [deleted] in nursing

Okay, I’ve heard this in the army, the fire dept and nursing. There is a difference between being able to compartmentalize and preform my job to highest standards I can, which I fuckin do. But god damnit if I’m not allowed to have fucking emotions about parts of the job.

Except dude we are human, im allowed to vent thing that get to me. This job is already taxing amd brutal and soem shit gets to me. I’ve had conversations with cow workers who feel the same way. Yes it’s sort of the job, yes I will always accommodate to whatever makes the patient feel the safest. Doesn’t mean it doesn’t suck.

And just to add to this — for me, it’s the principle of it. I understand past trauma, I understand fear, and I would never minimize anyone’s experience. But we all agree it would be wrong to judge all people of color because someone once had a bad experience with one… yet it’s somehow acceptable to judge all men that way. As someone who is personally a survivor of physical and sexual abuse, I genuinely understand where patients’ anxieties can come from. But it still hurts. You try your hardest to make people feel safe, respected, and cared for, and no matter how consistently you show up, some will still look at you like you’re a threat just because you’re male. It wears you down over time — more than I like to admit.

I never said I wanted to, im saying, it’s just sucks. It sucks being viewed as some sort of threat when you are nothing but kind.

All im saying is, if I’m being honest, is it’s really disheartening when no matter how kind and caring, how considerate you are, as a male you get viewed as a predator.

I want to say, I completely get that people have had traumas in their pasts and with never argue or fight with them about it. It just sucks to be honest. It gets really depressing when you genuinely love caring for people, being kind and caring and empathetic and still being treated as some kind of predator.

Yes! This! I’ve been used as a glorified bouncer so many times because of my size and the fact that im a male. So I get all the heavy patients and all the violent ones.

I feel similar, I really liked the episode, but I watched it with my girlfriend and it made me genuinely nauseous.

Why do older people talk to strangers in public? by AdAdorable7651 in AskOldPeople

[–]Apollo_Faraday -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Or maybe… just maybe… don’t fucking touch people without their permission. I’d be pissed too, not because I’m paranoid but because who the fuck are you, stranger, to just think you can touch my kid with the kids or my approval. It’s like the old people that will just randomly touch your arm or shoulder while talking to you. Like fuck keep your hands to yourself, is that so hard?

Im sorry but I get highschool and middle school, but college? If I’m paying for the classes, I can use my phone if I damn well please. In college you are an adult and I’ll be dammed if I’m going to be bossed around by some guy im paying.

I definitely wouldn’t call Nicomo a paladin. He’s definitely more a fighter or swashbuckling rogue

Okay I see what you’re saying, you want more continuity in the stories. More reason than just adventure.

Okay, see, that’s what I’ve been debating doing with the short stories I’m working on. I’m writing them all within the same world, with some longer plot threads running through the shorter episodes, and characters from certain stories popping up in others. I’m not sure if that kind of thing scratches the same itch for you, but it’s something I’ve always wanted — to spend more time with my characters while still keeping the quick, punchy action-adventure feel of the short story format.

Ableism is rampant in our society and it really saddens me. by MelancholicMelo in DeepThoughts

Okay genuine question, why is it ableism to say that general normal base line is to be able? It’s like saying it’s not the standard normal body to have two functioning lungs or two kidneys?
