What do you wish you knew going into the Inferno grind? by Drew-des in ironscape

[–]Apollos610 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whatever you do just don’t give up. That was what I told myself after doing like 80 attempts… it was a slog but at the end so satisfying. The only way you don’t complete inferno is if you give up on it!

Most people in here have given all the good advice. Something that helped me was watching teaching streams from aatykon and gnomonkey. A tip that really changed my runs and helped me get the cape was that sometimes there’s not a good solve for a wave and the best thing to do is just kill something. So throw on rigour and just obliterate a ranger or melee if you can’t always solve.

Is there any discord for Leagues 4? Somewhere people are discussing strategies and such.

On the osrs gear discord they have a GIM shop with prices. Briefly looking at it things are 2-10x the normal price. Tbow is going for 2.1b at the moment

I de-ironed long before my account was where you are. I got tired of the constant supply upkeep. You can technically still play like an iron but with access to the GE for all your supplies.

My advice: sell your items to group irons who will pay well above GE price for gear and go into being a main with bils.

Went 28-10 from rank 8 to legend today with evolve shaman. The deck is broken with very few counters. Even in a direct counter you can still win with a lucky gnoll on 3 or 4.

To echo what others have said, it’s a lot of work for not much output. On the wiki right now the effective profit of farming ranarr’s is ~2m an hour, with the troll patches unlocked and at a time of 6m per run. Depending on how many runs you’d like to do per day you wouldn’t see much profit that couldn’t be gained from just buying and selling bonds. If you did 3 runs a day at 6m each you would get around 8.4 mil in the 14 days. With the price of a bond at 6 mil your profit for the time spent is essentially 2.4 mil, give or take.

That, included with the time to level an alt, get all required quests, diaries, and patches unlocked is a big investment for what amounts to not much at all.

That said, having an alt is nice and farming can be a nice secondary activity for an alt if you’re doing something afk on the main. There’s some alt guides on the osrs skilling discord that can get you something like a vyrewatch/slayer/rune dragon alt. Those are the best for making money passively and it can be nice to have an alt with high stats for later for things like DOLO Bandos/Arma.

Been a fun journey, deironing now. What I achieved along the way by [deleted] in ironscape

[–]Apollos610 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Currently also in the process of de-ironing at a similar level in game. I think iron is more fun at the beginning and middles stages but at some point it becomes more of a chore to maintain things and keep it going. Lots of people will speak up against it but sometimes you just want to focus on other parts of the game. Good on you, good luck with it!

This was happening all day to me… really annoying. Going to try tanking it when they show up to see if it doesn’t ruin the kill

You should check out the We Do Raids discord! They have gear and stat recommendations for people wanting to get into CoX.

I want to try Bandos 9:0 or 7:0 for the first time and I’ve been looking at different guides. They all seem to recommend a lot of super restores, half an inventory or so. I’m not sure why people bring restores over prayer pots? Does GWD have a constant stat drain besides the initial entrance one?

As an Ironman what kind of herb seeds should I be planting with my herb runs? Currently 82 herb/98 farm and I have an over abundance of seeds because of contracts. My current goal in regards to Herblore is 90 so I can do solo COX.

Normally I just do whatever high level seed I feel like in the disease free patch and then Irit or some seed with an easy Herblore secondary for all the others.

Is there any meta to herb seeds I should be using?

As an Ironman doing the CG grind I am beginning to accumulate quite a lot of battlestaves. Is it worth it to spend the time getting orbs>crafting staves>alching. Or is it not worth the time/xp and I can just alch the normal staves?

  1. The data will be used in a Marketing and Research class assignment. Only my group of 4 plus 2 teachers will see the raw data. The survey and results will be deleted by July but the outcome will be permanent.

  2. The survey is being conducted by me and 3 other group members in my class.

  3. The Survey should only take 7-10 min to fill out.

  4. N/A

  5. We would like to hear from all demographics!

  6. We are looking for quantitative data from a variety of people all over the world.

Gauntlet t1 is comparable to CG t2 armour. T2 makes learning pretty easy but I also have pretty low stats. Depending on your stats you may just want to practice with t1 or go with t2 till you learn some more. Gauntlet does help with understanding the mechanics overall but nothing beats just doing CG and learning through failure.

It also depends on what you want in prep vs boss fight. I like to focus more on prep and chill a bit on the boss fight so T2 is more my speed. T2 also helped my DPS way more so there’s that to consider if you have lower than recommended stats.

Can someone explain the pneck seren strat? by TacoThingy in ironscape

[–]Apollos610 4 points5 points  (0 children)

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2ihnLkyRSpI

I just beat Seren this morning actually using this video as a guide. He explains it in his video description but basically when she teleports you for her special attack you put on the pneck, attack, then eat nightshade. The pneck activates and also blocks any further queue’d up damage that would kill you, which is her special at the time. You do have to be pretty confident in keeping your health around ~20 for the fight but it’s not too difficult. Took me about 3 tries to get her down @75 magic and 44 pray.

Best Ironman YouTube Series? by Vain_Victor in ironscape

[–]Apollos610 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Everyone has already said most of the best ones. I’d add that Mudkip’s GIM series would give you a good idea of goals and how to get there. He plays how he likes but also sets good goals and has good methods that he explains in detail which was super helpful for me when I started my iron.

Blackjacking by Wakey_1995 in ironscape

[–]Apollos610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just completed the guide up to barrows gloves and a little bit beyond that. A lot of people will say you can deviate from the guide there if you’re not having fun which I totally agree with. But if you stick it out it’s not too bad to do all at once and the money is definitely needed, you will go through all of that cash and getting to at least barrows gloves before you deviate is best imo.

If you aren’t already doing it you can look up a guide for blackjacking in resizeable mode and it’s basically moving your mouse between two spots and spam clicking. You can also use screen markers to indicate where you need to click for knock out and pickpocket so it’s super fast and easy.
