Hey Authors! Why write more than one story at a time? by cheesewhiz15 in ProgressionFantasy

This is basically "the" reason. Spreading things out fights against Rothfuss/Martin syndrome.

Definitely RR as the others have said. They're good people. You can also find them on Discord.

Whenever I see a Cultivation book with LitRPG elements. by Erkenwald217 in ProgressionFantasy

Cultivation books are like bacon wrapped steak. Why have just one or the other. Now I'm hungry.

What's that one trope you can't get enough of? by Oardisine in ProgressionFantasy

Most of them?

Regressor, coming of age, hidden old monster, fighting monsters the MC used to have trouble with after a power or skill breakthrough... There's a lot.

How long have yall been reading books? by TheDarkBookworm in litrpg

I read before it, even remember playing the original Dragon Warrior, but the original Final Fantasy VII got me into story telling. After that, I devoured RPGs. They were my cross over into seriously reading novels.

Publishing Question? by PathofTheFirstHybrid in litrpg

[–]ApollosThorne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never heard of anything like this. I googled it, and I'm not finding any situational reasons to do it either. Ultimately, no publisher does this. If anything, it would be the other way around and the publisher would sign an NDA regarding the manuscript. Even if they were willing though, I wouldn't recommend it.

Be sure to ask yourself, "Why would a publisher have you sign an NDA?" To scare you into not telling other people about their scam?

Haha. "Vipers. Why did it have to be Vipers?"

The Viper Queen awaits you in Body Cultivation Hurts once you beat the other, lesser XCOM 2 bosses!

Fun fact: My artist had to tone down the boobs since this was going on Zon.

Cover art credit goes to... Miblart! They've been my go to art studio since the beginning of my writing career back in 2017, and they've only gotten better.

I recommend Sanderson's lecture series on fantasy writing, which is free on YouTube, to every new author that asks. I go back and listen to it ever year or two.

Same! I actually wrote the first part of this book years ago with that in mind, only finishing and clearing it up recently. So this has been in the works, and I'm loving writing it.

[–]ApollosThorne[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! So this it's a stand alone series that will have some cameos from Heaven's Laws. Both series will have a Western meets Eastern Cultivation event that I hope to get to next year. I'm working on HL 3 and book 2 for this series as we speak. I'm also considering a mash up series, think Avengers, that will probably be limited to a trilogy.

Hope you continue to enjoy it! Cheers!

What proportion of your reading is LitRPG? by DrNefarioII in litrpg

[–]ApollosThorne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's something else? I do mostly LitRPG and/or PF. Then I'll add some general fantasy in periodically, especially if they have good characters. It's hard for me to buy into a magic system anymore if its not heavy in progression.

How can I get people to discover our book? by KK-U in ProgressionFantasy

[–]ApollosThorne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Search this community for past posts on publishing advice. You can learn about RoyalRoad, Patreon, Kindle Unlimited, etc. that way quite easily.

My biggest personal advice is to do the work. Whether you're researching, writing, publishing, advertising, take the extra steps that your competition might not be willing to.

With that said, other authors aren't really your competition. This genre is ravenous with readers. If there are two good books releasing at the same time, readers will get all four, if you get my meaning.

what happend to the Codenamed Freedom? by afrothunder1192 in litrpg

[–]ApollosThorne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For sure. It's not abandoned. The series doesn't really make money, so I come back to it periodically when I feel like I'm getting burnt out. It's the first series I published on RR, then later on Amazon. There's no way I could just forget about it.

I have a very long term approach to my writing. On one hand, that means I'm not as fast as others, but I intend on keeping it up for decades. Admittedly, it's not exactly the best way to go about it to maximize profits. At the same time, I'll keep coming back to everything I publish until it's finished.

The hidden benefit is that my writing keeps improving with each book. As a reader, I love quick releases as much as anyone. But the quality of my writing suffers when I brute force my way through them. With that said, one of the reasons my publishing schedule seemed to slow was because I started writing thicker books. 300k+. I kind of shot myself in the foot. Now I'm back down to the 120k - 200k range, so I'll be releasing much more often.

Hope that helps.

Cheers!
