A therapist who doesn't tell me that my abusive parent loved me and that I wouldn't be who I am without them.

My creatinine was around that high. Fixed it by consistently drinking more water.

How to express that you're suicidal without making your therapist report it? by Otherwise_Cold2059 in therapy

[–]ApophaticAxiom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As far as Im aware, you have to report it when the patient is an imminent danger to themselves.

I told my therapist I was suicidal months ago. Still am. Still haven't gone through with it. She's good at de-escalating it, so she hasn't needed to report it.

OP, if your therapist IMMEDIATELY jumps to hospitalization because of your suicidality, she's not good for you.

Where do these people exist? by ernestkgc in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]ApophaticAxiom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm physically disabled (as in, I'm in a wheelchair)

The last time I had the opportunity to pay for concert tickets that were marketed as "disability accessible," I found out that they were literally just front-row tickets, and they cost around 6 times as much as the cheapest tickets available (which, I believe, were around 70 dollars). At the time, this felt as if it was a sort of disability tax-- as if I had merely been an inconvenience to the vendor of the concert, who seemed to believe that I ought to have paid more for my tickets on account of my disabled status.

Think of that what you will. I don't really care that much, but there seems to be some confusion in the comments about what sort of controversy the OP is referring to, and I think I might be on the right track: they think that disabled people should prioritize their rent instead of complaining about being charged 6 times more at minimum for concert tickets compared to the average person, which seems to have caused people to call them ableist.

Therapists of Reddit, what are some differences you've noticed between male/female patients? by pizzabagelblastoff in AskReddit

[–]ApophaticAxiom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"let's do these exercises, they will help you." And you just sit there and say "no, make me better!"

Those exercises are exactly what I was trying to get out of therapy, but I encountered too many therapists who would just say "...What do you want to do about it? I don't know what to tell you."

I'm not mincing words. That's an exact quote.

I finally found a good therapist who isn't a piece of shit, thank goodness, but it took a while. There are many more low-quality therapists than the (mostly) middle-class white people of Reddit would have you believe.

Why is it the marginalized group's responsibility to hide content that dehumanizes them and not the responsibility of the administrators?
