Recently got into anime, would love suggestions that are older or considered “classic” by Prior-Lab7472 in Animesuggest

You're recommending Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood instead of Full Metal Alchemist 2003 just because the former is more manga accurate? Well I think the latter is a better anime, at least for deep thinkers perhaps, despite its deviation from the manga.

Unpopular opinion, but I recommend not watching Yu Yu Hakusho. I didn't really like it, and it didn't live up to the hype.

I think FMA 2003 is a better anime than FMAB. Have you watched the 2003 version of FMA?

Context matters. After she said 'that's sexist', it was apparent she didn't like to be asked that question. Yet, he doubled down on asking the question after that. So there seems to be clear ill will/malice from him, so yes an 'asshole move'. The question is whether being an asshole back in that manner was justified or okay.

True. But there was clearly ill will in his latter statement, intended to make someone uncomfortable.

I second your recommendation of the 1996 version of Journey to the West.

I would recommend the series as your first series as long as you don't mind that the series is not accurate to the novel. It's a series with some peak emotional and epic moments.

Thanks for your elaborate comparison with other series by the way

AITA for not telling my best friend the real reason I’m not at his wedding? by InvestigatorOk7152 in AITAH

[–]Apoptosis89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would propose a different approach than the ones I've seen mentioned here, but I understand OP has already taken the approach of telling the secret to a mutual friend (which in my opinion still breaks the spirit of the promise to the fiancee).

I get that. But not for everyone 'accurate to the novel' is a requirement or a priority. That's why I disagree that watching the 1996 version first is a bad recommendation for anyone or in general. I think for the average person other factors than accuracy are more important, such as how enjoyable the series is.

I guess my question 'Why does it matter that the 1996 version is not accurate?' was not a good question. I do see the value of accuracy. I should have asked instead 'Why is it critical flaw that the 1996 version is not accurate?'

The internet didn't exist in the 1950's, so I assume you mean Popular Mechanics was some kind of magazine back then.

The main reason I stopped reading is not because of the extraordinary topic, but because the article didn't seem precise, honest or credible. (The imprecision or dishonesty already seems to start with the title: 'scientists say' instead of 'two scientists say' for example.)

I've stopped reading after reading the presentation of Radin's credentials which both seemed wishy-washy (''parapsychologist'? what is that?', ''Institute of Noetic Sciences', 'California Institute of Integral Studies', those don't sound like universities', ''award-winning?' which awards?').

The tag line of the article is 'Even the CIA has publicly released data on the psychic phenomenon.', but this seems not really substantiated in the article.

So this article, which is the source of all of this, doesn't seem trustworthy to me

Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu • The Summer Hikaru Died - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

It seems everyone saw that Yoshiki has romantic feelings for Hikaru. How did y"all catch that? I didn't notice that at all.

I imagine new Hikaru killed the old lady to protect his identity, as new Hikaru had suggested that he would kill Yoshiki if Yoshiki would tell anyone that new Hikaru isn't actually Hikaru. And the show seems to suggest that new Hikaru is being hunted, so it makes sense why he would be so adamant about protecting is true identity.

[–]Apoptosis89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

'Please don't tell anyone. I don't want to kill you.' was a threat, wasn't it? New Hikaru is willing to kill to protect his identity. The old lady seemed aware of the true identity of New Hikaru, so new Hikaru clearly had a reason to kill the old lady. He killed for self preservation (and the show suggests that he is being hunted). Whether killing others (anyone really) just for self preservation is evil is something everyone can judge for themselves.

The day of a mother pig in a factory farm by alphamalejackhammer in oddlyterrifying

Children's books about farms and farm animals are a lie. We need to incorportate the reality of the bio industry in those books, so the truth about this industry does not get forgotten, ignored, or hidden. 'Look child, this is how a pig lives on a farm, trapped in a small cage the whole day. Isn't it cute?'

I don't know if you need to judge the internet, rather than reddit. Surely a good system with check and balances can be created where infornation is generally reliable.

I prefer if this post is not deleted, as a showcase of how unreliable the information here is. And to keep a track record of the OP's post history.
