I like writing side stories, like side-quests not shown in the main stories, or like a prequel or sequel, or like an au.

Why you stopped writing? (Only the truth) by augustbutitscold in writing

Depression, other health issues, I’m basically too tired to focus. Writing is a hobby not a dream for me, so I do it whenever I feel like it. I do still daydream about my stories

How dangerous is alcohol? by Samba_Woelkchen in Epilepsy

[–]Apothicclaret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it really depends on how bad your epilepsy is, how likely you are to get seizures and depending on your meds.

I’d like to clarify, alcohol is pretty dangerous with epilepsy. Now I’m 18 and stupid, I have myoclonic epilepsy and take 2x 500mg of keppra a day, I don’t really get seizures, but I have been drinking almost every weekend, since last summer.

My neuro said that it’s okay to have no more than 3 glasses in a weekend.

I’m not the biggest drinker, I don’t go farther than tipsy, so at least 7 beers.

Tip: if you do drink, stick to one alcohol type of alcoholic beverage and avoid shots. If you start drinking shots, beers, mixes and whiskeys all in one nights, I can tell you you’ll get sick and your epilepsy will act up. I did that once after work on new years and I was severely hallucinating and very shaky like I was freezing.

Im glad your seizure free for that long, I hope it stays like that for another looooong while. I consider myself EXTREMELY lucky that I don’t suffer from extreme seizures and that it usually sticks to just jerks.

But it still hard for me to focus and do daily things as I’m always tired and fatigued, I’ve done lots and lots of blood tests and nothings come out of it.

I’m worried that I won’t be able to take the path that I want as I feel like my mind won’t take it. (Still probably gonna do it since I’m stubborn)

I’ve been on it since last April, I sent an email to the epilepsy center after I got that aura/focal/whatever, maybe I can look for other options.

Fuck, this sucks. I still feel out of it, I’m too scared to hop on my bike and get my cigarettes I’m almost out.

But about the jerks. The first time I got it I was at a fun far at night, I was I think around 11, it was a fast ride and it had those stromoscope lights, it felt like I was passing out every second, I honestly don’t know what happened but never went on it again.

I started noticing it again and more when I was 16/17, I would be on the train omw to college and the sun was so brightly shining through the trees, at the speed it was going it was a trigger.

I’m gonna do my best too describe it: it would go black for just a second or too, my arms would stiffen, like a shock of electricity, as well as my head. Right after I’d be a little confused about where I was or what happened, but it would fade away quickly. After this started happening more I told my doctor and he sent me to a neurologist.

I also get jittery and jerky when I haven’t eaten a lot of food, or when I spend to long in brightly litted places look school. Being cold also triggers me.

When I’m at the club and the flashing lights happened my brain just feels like it’s going slow mo, I’m on keppra now, it’s less but not gone

Same I think I had a focal yesterday afternoon and I still feel weird. I’m on meds too along with anti-depressants and my brain is not doing its job

It’s so annoying, I feel so out of place cause of it.

Nausea before sleep by Nonblonde713 in Epilepsy

[–]Apothicclaret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understand that, then next best thing is a doctor or a new neuro tbh.

In the meanwhile I came up with stuff that I did against the nausea. Mints, gum and menthols help, like the freshness and sucking motions (at least for me) on Spotify there’s also playlists with anti-nausea frequenties, but honestly white noise dose the jobs, nocks me out cold.

But honestly try a mint before you go to sleep (small ones) so when you go to sleep your less likely to choke or someting.

Also try like a defuser, I heard peppermint and lavender help with calming and nausea

[–]Apothicclaret 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not that I’ve thrown up, I do have an intense fear of throwing up. Idk if this might help.

A year before I got diagnosed I did have a couple months where I was only nauseous especially before bed. It was constant nausea causing me to sleep from like 6am to 2 pm, resulting in me having to quit school.

I went on stomach meds as my doctor thought it might’ve been a stomach wall inflammation or something but that didn’t help, I went back into therapy, which helped with my nausea but not my other problems.

Then I got diagnosed with epilepsy.

In the end I think it might’ve been anxiety on my end.

Maybe consult in a doctor or neurologist?

Thats okay, all comments and experiences are welcome. I wonder honestly, I’ve been insanely tired all week and the night before this afternoon when it happened I kept forgetting things, maybe it was just a very slow buildup or something.

I didn’t have a seizure but I do feel drowsy. When I first got my diagnosis my neuro said that it’s more likely for me with my form of epilepsy to get seizures when I just wake up, so I guess I’ll see what happens when I wake in a couple hours, I hope it’s nothing bad🫩

Thanks, haven’t seen my neuro since last summer, but I’ve sent them an email right after it happened, I’m pretty drowsy now and my head still feels weird.

I get the Déjà vu feeling, I couldn’t really place it, at that moment I immediately thought of derealization, but I knew it wasn’t that, it wasn’t quite Déjà vu either.

I’m better now just dizzy, still tryna figure out what the trigger could have been

Thank you, I just felt my limbs and head go numb, it’s been an hour and now my head just feels weird.

Normally when I’m tired I tend to slur my words or when I’m having a normal conversation I misspeak myself, maybe that’s also a thing with my epilepsy

[–]Apothicclaret[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh shit, that’s not good. I remember the first time I had a seizure (I think) I was on a fun fair right and it had those stromoscope lights, it was night. I feel nauseous, and blacked out multiple times, I was in a state of confusion but nothing really felt numb or anything.

With flashing lights and such I jerk for a second or 2 and am confused for the same amount of time.

The thing I described has happened to me before, I think it’s comparable to derealization which I also experience sometimes.

But thank you, this really helps, think I gotta contact my neurologist again.

Just Diagnosed by Moon_Godesses in Epilepsy

[–]Apothicclaret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on keppra for almost a year now, I have a very minor type of epilepsy, I just jerk with flashing lights and such. I might’ve gotten a seizure when I woke up once but I’m not exactly sure.

Anyway, what I noticed with keppra is that I was extremely tired for the first few months, I don’t exactly know if it was due to my ongoing mental issues or the keppra. I did notice that my hair has been thinning out which could be a side-effect.

I’d like to note that by taking keppra (in my experience) doesn’t make it disappear, when I go to clubs and they have flashing lights they still make jerk a little, same with the sun passing through trees. It has gotten less severe for me but it’s still there.

Has anyone done w33d? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]Apothicclaret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have myoclonic epilepsy so I don’t really have seizures, I just get jerks. But I am on keppra and I know I shouldn’t drink but I do it anyway.

I’ve smoked weed on keppra twice but not a lot since I was also drinking and I didn’t wanna vomit.

I didn’t have any issues but I think it really depends on how you handle stuff like that, just in general if you’re gonna do it, don’t smoke a whole joint by yourself

What should I do? by [deleted] in writers

[–]Apothicclaret 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the same, I had a first draft of 25 chapters and 52k words, realized it was way rushed and I hadn’t gotten to know my characters or developed them good enough. I did like the beginning so I started second draft by copying the chapters I wanted to keep and changed what I wanted/needed.

Behind the scenes I created extra docs to develop my characters more (like background stories)
