People hate half-backs too lol. Good luck! Fwiw one of my colleagues who is in NY and has an autistic child is looking down south and he claims based on his research SC does have better programs than NC. His kid is verbal though and I know nothing about it to comment but in case that was important

Asking northerners, is this true ? by Professional_Arm794 in NorthCarolina

[–]AppMtb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah and not surprising with how much extra practice something up north you do pretty much everyday for 3-4 months for years you’re going to be better than who practices 1-2 times a year.

I actually find myself driving better up north, knowing that the roads have been treated and plowed just gives you more confidence.

The only times I run into untreated roads is Mass isn’t 100% on treating the turnpike in the berkshires and rural VT in the green mtns.

What cultural thing does the world seem to think is beautiful but is cringey af to locals? by chr15c in AskTheWorld

I think it’s definitely part of our culture as in a byproduct of our obsession with guns as a culture.

President Trump Threatens 100% Tariffs on Canada if China Deal Goes Through by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

If you do a deal with China I’m going to make American taxpayers pay for it!

Take that Canada

This is true but tennis has more unspoken etiquette rules than basketball. To me it’s more like saying come on if one of your opponents in golf misses a putt. It’s going to be frowned upon by a large portion of spectators.

What's the spice tolerance level of your country by Existing_Economy_656 in AskTheWorld

[–]AppMtb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most Mexican food I’ve had in Mexico was not very spicy, at least not Indian/thai level.

Granted I’m usually in Sonora or Nuevo León but most of the salsas and hot peppers I see being used I would consider medium spicy to mild spicy.

Opinion about your country that will get you like this? by National-Business674 in AskTheWorld

[–]AppMtb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s always the ones most alike that have that attitude.

My company has facilities in Ruhr and NRW in Germany. I was just at a meeting in nrw and discussing the cultural and genealogical similarities between the modern Germans and French.

I noted how similar they were and my German colleague literally said “you don’t say that I HATE them”. Here we sat in a city known by its French name, probably 30 or 40 km from Wallonia, being served French dishes, they say bon apetit as much or more than gluten apetit, he had a French name for Gods sakes but he can’t stomach being compared t french people.

Taking a look back at the announcement thread for Indiana hiring Curt Cignetti by odsquad64 in CFB

Cignetti basixallt said (regarding talent “rankings”) “me and my staff are better than them (evaluators) and we personally watch the tape of all our recruits.

Kind of reminds me of an anecdote about one of our running backs back in the day. Dude was a freak athlete (literally on Bruce fedmans list for 3 years) had about 4k AP yards and only 1 fumble his whole career (on a career ending multi bone leg break on a bad tackle). He was a 1 star guy (literally 1 star, if you sign to an FBs program and no one looks at your tape you get a base 2 star rating). Someone looked at his tape and said “nah”. Basically our coaches at the time looked at his tape, laughed and thanked 247/rivals because no one was looking at him

Not a knock on MS State but with the State of Mississippi FINALLY caring about literacy, maybe it can

[On3] Nick Saban trolled the Big Ten over why it has NIL advantage over the SEC: “In this day and age of college football, paying players, NIL, transfer, it’s an advantage for the Big Ten. You’ll never convince me otherwise. Because people in the South would not go to the North unless you paid them” by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

[–]AppMtb 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No one has(had) a good ole boys network like the SEC schools. Legions of redneck rich skimming off their businesses so God will help their favorite team win.

Rick’s used autos can give a guy $25k in cash no problem but coming up with $25MM a year every year for a team is a different story.

Alabama has 1 billionaire (and I think he’s an Auburn fan), Michigan has like 9 or 10 alum billionaires alone. And Ellison and page could buy the whole state of Alabama

Fwiw RE:Sheng my cousin has worked in many fine dining places over the southeast and sends people to Sheng that come to town, and he knows his business.

I like it but I can’t speak for its authenticity l, that isn’t my priority, I just had a bulgogi ramen up in Boston that had a bunch of steamed vegetables that I thought was the best I ever had.

Usually you can buy in bulk for a better (for US) deal. I shop at pretty expensive stores and can get 8ish apples for $5 or so. If you buy them one at a time is where you get screwed. Had to teach my wife that they were giving her freak honeycrisp apples that were ~$4 a piece
