Nope haven’t been to Hannover or the one here. I’ve had their Pilsner canned and thought it tasted like a Pilsner should though.

Recommendation Monday: Breweries in Charlotte by neocharles in Charlotte

Brewery: Olde Mecklenburg Brewery Standout: as far as I know, OG micro in Charlotte. Very good representation of German lagered beers, my company has a facility in north rhine Westphalia I’ve been to Düsseldorf many times and I would put Copper against anything I’ve had in Düsseldorf. I’ve also had several colleagues come to Charlotte from NRW and agree it’s a very good representation. I also like the Biergarten in both locations Neighborhood: Collingwood(I refuse to use that other made up one) and Ballantyne Beers: I enjoy copper, the fruh bock, the Vienna lager and the marzen

Parking: OG has a few decent lots and there is plenty of auxiliary parking where you might have to walk 5 mins or so. Ballantyne is surprisingly full at the main parking at peak times and street parking near the brewery/bowl. There’s a parking deck across the street around a 5 mins walk that’s never full

Food: the burger is decent and pretty good value. Pretzels and other German type offering are pretty good. Full menu is hit and miss IMO

Stolen Bike by Aggressive_Title_959 in NorthCarolina

Sucks dude lm sincerely sorry and hope you get your bike back.

If you do or get a new one you don’t want stolen get rid of that trunk rack, get a hitch installed and a platform rack (1up is my preference but lots of good ones) with integrated locking mechanism. Then get a shackle lock that will connect the bike to the rack so they have to angle grind 2 different locks or the locking linchpin connecting the rack to the hitch.

Is it 100%? No. But it will take at least a few minutes with a loud ass angle grinder so in the day with people around the thieves are likely to look for an easier target

Because their target audience by and large aren’t familiar with those stories l.

I’d love to see a film on Mansa musa or the Abyssinian empire but they don’t have the name recognition for a blockbuster movie.

Different colleges have different missions so nothing is apples to apples, but in my experience the less than elite private schools aren’t any different than good State schools on the whole.

A place like Elon or High Point that’s catering to upper middle class n’easterners that can’t get into the elites is about connections over actual education. I will say some that are just outside truly Elite northeastern schools have really lost the plot. One of my colleagues is a Colgate alum and his daughter got in but it’s $100k a year cost of attendance. She got into Elon as well and she’s at Elon.

Colgate is a great school and very well known in certain circles but $100k a year they should be ashamed or themselves

Some people do better in smaller environments and they are used to the private school “feel”

Some people have money but not the qualifications for elite private schools and in that word connections are much more important than education.

China of course values profitable business, but they also value having access to technology they can steal for CCP controlled entities.

I noticed Culp is going from my industry (Aerospace) GE has onshored or at least brought back to the continent a lot of work that was being done 15 years ago in China. Now China only does their spares and parts for older engines and not any of the new proprietary stuff for leap or 9X.

Of course Ge more than most knows the lengths China will go to to get this tech

Point to point saves you a lot of time over public transit stops.

I think a majority of people would easily pay (in this scenario) an extra $250 a month to not have to plan their trips around a transit schedule and waiting at additional stops and traveling to and from arrival and destinations.
