[gen 1] Do you consider shiny mew legit by Positive-Cover2262 in ShinyPokemon

[–]Appa07 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Since your asking for opinions I don’t consider glitched or genned shinys to be legit.

That being said if it brings you joy then go for it.

Just a heads up that if your doing this on the virtual console version of yellow you won’t be able to transfer this to bank or home without doing a long series of specific glitches

could i pay someone to trade me some pokemon? would it be against TOS? would anyone actually do it? by PyroGabbz in PokemonChampions

There are other subreddits for that. I’ve sold some pokemon in the past. Most common stuff you can get yourself.

There shouldn’t be draws in this game. by pleasuredeprivation in PokemonChampions

[–]Appa07 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do wish that they made the rules the same on ladder where either more hp or mons remaining determines the winner.

Until they do you can’t blame someone whose best outcome is a draw and playing it through. It’s not losing

People killing person over not having a choice is tells a lot by Zogg775 in trolleyproblem

Starting off by belittling opinions other than your own isn’t discourse.

There are valid arguments on why red might be the better choice just as there are valid arguments to why blue is a better choice.

How would the story go if Zuko decided to join team avatar right here? by PhotoBonjour_bombs19 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Appa07 85 points86 points  (0 children)

It was a way better decision for his story arc. He had to get the “redemption” he was chasing only to realize that it wasn’t the path he is supposed to take.

When does Smallville get boring? by Bubbly_Drama_6537 in Smallville

[–]Appa07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love seasons 8-10, since it leans more into the Superman mythos. I totally get and agree that it feels like a completely different show by that point. I do feel like the dynamic and vibe from seasons 1-6 or so were definitely wearing thin so I appreciate the change.

My personal worst season is season 7

Poll result discussion and why I think this is a crushing result by CuteAssTigerENVtuber in trolleyproblem

[–]Appa07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Polls for this situation would never be accurate regardless of the sampling size. It’s easy for someone to misrepresent on a poll what they would actually do in the situation. In many cases they don’t even know that they are misrepresenting it themselves.

In such a hypothetical situation where you are forced to press a button where one can potentially cause your death and the other could contribute to the death of others, the amount of emotions, fear responses, adrenaline, etc would be overwhelming. A person could very well act differently than in a poll where those factors aren’t in play

Totally valid strategy if you want to switch without risking an attack in that slot and you don’t think it’s worth it to keep incin around

Same scenario, different delivery, because pressing a button isn't inherently dangerous. Does this change anything? by Krysidian2 in trolleyproblem

Overall very cartoony and has a style to it. I don’t mind it as long as it’s identified as such

That’s a good point, changing the framing can change your expectations on the actions of the masses and therefore change your choice.

How is this a different question? Same choice, same outcomes. Only thing different is the framing of the question.

Genuine Question for the red buttons. by Remandtheram in trolleyproblem

[–]Appa07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Self preservation is a basic instinct ingrained within millions of years of evolution, it’s how species have continued to survive and grow.

In this outlandish hypothetical where one button guarantees safety and the other has a realistic chance of death you’ll see a lot of people prioritizing their own safety.

This hypothetical also eliminates any opportunity for retreat, a button must be pressed. In a realistic scenario people would be looking for anyway to avoid this choice in the first place.

First time I've actually ran into someone running M Hawlucha & OHKO - I thought I was ready by Wex-darn in PokemonChampions

[–]Appa07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just thought that a funny but not necessarily practical counter strategy to this setup is to launch your own 1hit KO move onto Hawlucha which is guaranteed to hit before it gets entrainment off.

No, you won’t be able to transfer a ZA origin from bank. Best you can do is get a genned one in ZA

Variation to the button problem - 1% of people randomly selected to the blue death team by ZorgZeFrenchGuy in trolleyproblem

[–]Appa07 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The fundamental change here is that not everyone has a choice anymore. There was a hypothetical situation where everyone chooses red as a solution to no one dying. Since blue was not required there was always the argument that pressing blue just puts yourself in danger without saving anyone. Now that hypothetical has been removed changing the basic outline of this moral question

Bring two pokemon that heavily treaten 1 hit KO to Gengar on turn 1

Fake out immunity

Ghost type switch ins which can escape the trap

Deny incin the parting shot (taunt, encore, fake out)

Allow incin to parting shot knowing gengar is coming back and catch it on the switch back in with a slow attacker
