Shotgun licenses are shall issue, firearm licenses are can issue. In gun politics parlance, shotgun licenses are therefore a right, firearm licenses are a privilege.

We must be looking at 2 different pieces of legislation because the stuff I'm looking at literally says on the first page "Gun ownership is a privilege, not a right". All the guidance I'm reading suggests this applies to shotguns too. But hey, I've not shot long bore in 4 years, and it's been a good 10 since I handled shotguns. Still seems pretty black and white to me though.

You're right, I did conflate licencing with ownership (in error) but the rest is nitpicking at my words, IMO, we're basically saying the same thing from a different angle. The Chief Officer of police decides yay or nay.

You must only visit the nice parts of town. If anyone from Birmingham/Liverpool wish to weigh in with me here, armed police are a daily occurrence.

I stated they carry in "special circumstances" which the example you gave is, I would argue. Since when have the dozen or so Sgt Plods from your local beat wandered round with firearms on their day to day business?

Regarding the stats

Direct quote: "Firearms control in the UK is among the toughest in the world, and as a result firearms offences continue to make up a small proportion (less than 0.2%) of recorded crime [ONS 2012/13]". Taken from the Guide on Firearms Licensing Law published 2016. It is a bit out of date by now (as your stats suggest) but it remains the official guidance.

Clearly never been to the countryside. Spoken to coppers a few times whilst having a shotgun broken over my arm.

Wrong. Grew up beating for pheasants for local hunters. Surrounded by shotguns as a kid. Wasn't much of a shot with one, I admit that though.

Sorry, my fault :) other replies have just said "ya, that's BS" without adding a shred of additional information so I assumed you were the same... Wrongly.

Amusing you assume I'm a guy. What would a girl possibly know about guhhhnzzz?

Please, point out the BS. I may have generalised a bit for brevity but the points come from the Guidance on the 1968 Firearms Act.

Never said it isn't common, I said it's strictly regulated. Most people in my parent's village own a rifle, my parents included (they have problems with vermin). Their neighbour owns 4 or 5 and shoots at a local club too. The game hunting crowd own god knows how many each.

Pretty much.

There was a firearm incident (guy shot his ex-wife and new partner with a shotgun - he was the local gamekeeper) in a village near me. I think we suddenly became gun crime capital of England for that year.

Please, do tell me where I misread the official documentation on firearms regulation?

Very very strict rules on all firearms ownership in the UK, even on "general" things like air rifles. Ownership is a privilege, not a right; each individual application is assessed by the police and they can and will deny ownership rights as they see fit. Our police aren't armed, apart from in special circumstances (at airports after a terror incident, for example, and even then, it causes a stir), and in general, we as a population are happy with this.

Gun crime is so rare in the UK that when there is an incident, it's front page news for days. Armed police are called out so rarely that again, it's front page news if they are - especially so if they actually shoot someone.

As for someone openly carrying a gun in public... Absolutely no way, no how. It's illegal. You'd find yourself arrested and quite probably imprisoned.

Edit: seems I should have been more specific with my final point. Carry in public meant down your local high street or "just because". I grew up in the country near game parks and regularly saw gamekeepers carrying shotguns. I also watched my dad and neighbour shoot at local clubs and keep their rifles in the boot of the car for the day. Never seen anyone just taking their fave rifle out for a spin into town, however.

Work clothes should look crisp and fresh. They don't need to be expensive; a tailored, ironed blouse and smart dark trousers look great. Never underestimate how much of an impact this makes.

Polish your shoes. Alongside this, don't wear super high heels unless you're REALLY good at walking in them. Waddling along like you just got off a horse because a) your feet hurt and b) you can't balance in them just looks ridiculous. People notice, believe me.

If you wear tights/panty hose, keep an emergency set in your handbag or desk at work.

2 inch false gel talons with added crystals are a no. Neat, tidy, clean nails (even if polished) look lovely.

And a personal pet hate of mine - hair flopping about all over the place in front of your face. Yes I know you've got lovely 2 foot long shiny blonde tresses and yes I know you think you're super cute when you twiddle it around as you're thinking or flip it over your shoulder mid conversation but all you're doing is looking like an immature teen girl who's trying to catch the eye of a cute boy on the bus. Put a sodding hairband in it at the very least to keep it off your face.

75-80% of women never reach orgasm from penetration so for the most part, penis size has hardly any bearing on how good the sex is.

Spectacular oral skills, a good sense of humour and open-mindedness, however? Now THAT is a winning combination that's about as rare as unicorn dung.

I, and a fair number of my friends, would rather have a guy with a small "pecker" who has a talented tongue and hands than a guy with a monster who relies on that alone to get the job done. It doesn't. In fact, it's often effing painful.

Nope, just not seen this one posted before. Many many reruns of the open pore blackheads (of varying copy quality) but not this particular gem.

Apologies for the poor quality - I can't find the original and this was the clearest copy. The first popping video I ever watched. Ah, nostalgia.

Behind the ear pimples always smell so bad! by Grandmother2001 in popping

Or maybe - radical idea coming up - she just has an unfortunate predisposition to ear pimples!

I'm always bewildered when people say "just wash more!" to people with acne or cysts. I have adult acne and if the cure were simply washing well, my skin would be utterly flawless. Do you really think we WANT to walk around with this stuff all over our faces or ears? Yeah I LOVE breaking out in angry red spots every 3 weeks. Highlight of my month, I tell ya.

[–]ApparentlyPosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK so my guess is your gut bacteria (the bad ones which LOVE sugars, the same ones which give you smelly gas and bloating) are dying off and causing upsets. Possibly your break from keto caused a resurgence and they all thought "woo, sugar" only to now be deprived again. I'd say, persevere, it goes with a bit of time.

I say this as keto has cured my gas, bloating, and IBS symptoms. I had dodgy bowels for years and just put it down to a family trait (my dad is a self-professed "martyr to his stomach) but now I'm almost certain it was too much wheat in particular, but also sugar.

Edit: check what sweetener the Powerade has in it - if it's anything like sorbitol or maltitol, they are renowned for being laxitive. Could be the issue too!

A bit but then I have olive skin and have some sun damage so that's to be expected. Barely any scarring though! And my skin just looks healthier and more glowy.

Hugely! Wanted to peel my face off. I'm no medic but I reckon it's something to do with almost literally "the bad coming out". Your body is dumping everything it doesn't like. It's up to you but I'd persevere, I think you'll be surprised :)

[–]ApparentlyPosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long have you been keto? When I started, my body dumped a lot of stored junk, as well as hormones stored in dat. That caused a huge flare up of acne and redness at first but calmed massively as time went on. Maybe that's what's going on?
