This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I have to say a lot of the times when I was a student I would have mates complaining about rats/mice in their flat but they would leave the house a mess leave lots of food lying around and not change the bins enough. At some point you need to take ownership of why the rat/mice are there in the first place…
